Re: iPhone 4S - Mr Siri

Siri is giving me problems, I have my iPod on shuffle all the time, sometimes I go to check which song is playing, so I tap the home button to wake the screen up, nothing happens, couple of seconds later, Siri pops up, stops the music and gets a swear from me for being annoying, then I have to wait for the soddding thing to go away again so I can finally find out which track is playing. It's getting to be very annoying.

I'm not holding the home button down, as you would to actually activate it if you wanted to, I don't think my button pushing skills are so bad as to fail at tapping it correctly. Very annoying bug, anyone else get it?

So, apparently my co-workers were tinkering with voice command over lunch time and kept on dialing the wrong people...is it really that inaccurate or do my colleagues suffers from some serious speech impediment?
It depends on the name to be honest. If I ask it to call or sms David it's fine first time.

If I ask it to call some of my relative or friends with more exotic names it's not so great.

Personally I never use it, it's quicker doing it myself. The best thing about siri is setting up meetings. It's really good at that.

I'm sorry Dave, I'm afraid I can't let you listen to that song.

Maybe he wants to chime in, next It'll be asking if I want to hear a song he learnt.

Wash your mouth out Siri: Boy, 12, told by iPhone 'Shut the f*** up, ugly t***'

By Damien Gayle
Last updated at 5:05 PM on 30th December 2011

A 12-year-old boy got a shock when he tried out the new iPhone 4S in a shop it answered: 'Shut the f*** up, ugly t***.'

Charlie Le Quesne had been trying out the new gadget's Siri voice assistant system in a Tesco branch in Coventry when it came out with the string of profanities.

The obscene response came after he had asked the phone: 'How many people are there in the world.'

Rude response: Charlie Le Quesne was confronted with this response after asking a question of his iPhone 4S
Charlie's horrified mother, Kim, told the Sun she couldn't believe the 'filth' the state-of -the-art smart phone had spouted at her son.

She told the paper: 'I thought I must be hearing things, so we asked again and the same four-letter stuff blared out.'

After they complained to the store manager, apologetic shop workers agreed to unplug the phone and remove it from the display.

Staff believe that pranksters tampered with the phone's set up to make it come out with the foul language.

Siri always refers to the phone user by name, using information kept in the iPhone's contacts system.

Whoever had sabotaged the phone had entered the seven-word phrase as the phone user's name, so that Siri blurted it out whenever it answered a question.

It's possible to reprogram your name in Siri by simply saying, 'Call me...' then a name.

Not happy: Mother Kim, left, with Charlie and Jay, both 10, have been told pranksters have tampered with the phone
But it's unclear how the phone could be made to say something so obscene - the 'voice assistant' usually resists saying anything rude.

Apple was unavailable for comment.

Mrs Le Quesne, a nursery worker, insisted that she couldn't see the funny side.

A Tesco spokesman told the Sun the firm had launched an investigation.

'The handset will be going back to Apple for diagnostic tests,' the spokesman said.

Re: iPhone 4S - Mr Siri

It's not the stores nor apple's fault. What does the customer want the store/apple to do about it? I don't understand how this stuff makes the "news".

Sigh.
