Re: Dogs and North Sea Ferries (UK) - any experience?

View Post
As said, I would never ever put any dog of mine through this ordeal.

I'd much prefer to put dog in kennel for the duration of the holiday- or for a permanent move take the Tunnel and do the journey in 3 days with 2 overnight stops. No experience of this particular ferry run, but certainly on the Calais-Dover ferry you are not allowed under any circumstances to go and check on the dog for the crossing.
But it us much different on these longer crossings.

As I said earlier we have friends who regularly do the crossing from Zeebrugge or Rotterdam to a Hull and they are very happy with the service. They are allowed to visit the dogs during the crossing and take them out on deck at certain times ( weather permitting).
They have been doing it regularly for at least 10 years.

Totally different kettle of fish from the Dover Calais crossing where the dogs remain in the cars.
