taking the pith?

I was just passing thru Cornavin on my lunch and there was a guy standing out front... normal dress I guess ( for Cornavin )...
except for the jodhpurs
and the wellington boots

ohh.. and the pith helmet

so.. the obvious question... do you suppose he was taking the pith?

Are you sure you weren't standing in front of a mirror? That's how I've been picturing you all along.

Yup, Yup and not too tall. He was a real character.

I'm from a former British colony and this brought back many many images in my mind!

Yeah, he sure is...at first, I thought it was Mugabe strolling through HB...but then I noticed, that he had a little pep in his step..and thus, I figured that it must have been somebody else. (saw him about 3 times already)

Reminds me of this guy at HB going up the stairs wearing a kilt.
I was so not in the mood to be going up the same stairs while he was on them.

I don't believe....

definitely wasn't wearing shades.... gold wire rimmed glasses as I remember, but all considered I really wasn't paying attention to the glasses.

odd tho really... Geneva has it's usually collection of characters ( guy in the cowboy hat anyone? ) so we shouldn't need imports.

I too have seen this man

In addition to the before mentioned attire, you can now include:
  • Leopard skin tie
  • Some sort of 'horse whip / cane'

I think the guy is a Legend !!!
(perhaps also crazy, mental, and dangerous...... but it made my day to see someone dressed like that)

I also tried to sneak a pic of him.
I have since tried to explain this person to people, but people don't believe me.

Thanks for confirming my "Human UFO" story

Re: taking the pith?

Around what time did you see him?

I saw him at HB after a late night. It must've been like 5-5:30am. I really had a good laugh while waiting for my train.

I was going to go and speak to him, because perhaps he was from my country as well! But I decided against it, I was so wasted I could hardly talk .

Ehm, normal folks regard you aforementioned times as early mornings...

Each time I saw him was around 5-6pm and he usually walked across the HB towards that church looking building on the other side of the street.

as long as we are discussing odd-balls for a moment...
has anyone ever had the pleasure of bumping into this guy?
(I literally jumped first time I saw him)
