Re: Online forum abuse, is it real? are you a victim?

Damn I do dislike these threads and issues.

People take EF far too seriously (so do I).
Just chill

Have never been abused on EF. Got red blobbied only once in 3 years. Have been groaned sometimes because I deserved it, and sometimes because the person just felt like it, or because I wasn't using the right spoon when eating pasta or whatever.

Let's just cut it out.
Life is hard enough. There's only one life to enjoy, and really it's not a rehearsal, it's the only chance we get to be happy and fulfilled and satisfied. We're young (well y'all are ) now, not tomorrow.

Take a step back and let it all flow, and just pass you by

a big hug to y'all, seriously

So mild abuse / harrassment is acceptable? Each person reacts differently to it so pressing the ignore button, although quite good for some, doesn't work for all.

I started this thread hoping that posters who have been harrassed will find the courage to step up and say stop.

Thanks for all your responses and taking the thread more or less seriously. EF is generally a great forum and I'd like to do my bit to keep it that way.
I find the timing of this particular thread a bit interesting.

Yesterday being a bit of a rough day for me (even in between it's joys), I decided against making any new threads and hardly even turned on my computer at all actually, in effort to make sure anything I may have been thinking then was really something I care to discuss, rather than something that would merely "aid" in the proverbial sensation of digging my tongue into a sore tooth.

Also though, with a lot of members likely involved in family things, whether they stayed in town or went "home" to visit other relatives, I think you're not likely to get a thorough response for a couple of days anyhow.

Let's not forget one thing, this forum and it's members are great! This forum was build from people who really cared for it and really believed in it, and look how great work they did, this forum is awesome... But where are they now? Why those who worked so hard to make it what it is, left? And why?
Very likely, most of us who use this forum are folks who are accustomed to going someplace new, making ourselves comfy for a while, and then moving on - in real life. For folks to "move on" after they've been around for a while, isn't really something that is such a curious thing to me.

Some move to a new place and connection to this forum diminishes, new friends are made, stronger / different time obligations arise, having the chance to really "see" into some of the posters here... there are many reasons to not stick around.

Having not one but two posters accuse me directly of being jealous of the luck of their wombs and seeing a third making a general accusation of people being jealous of the existence of their children has put me a bit off this forum. Hearing that one of the accusers has been running around town saying (to other EF members) that my miscarriage was my fault makes me see her posts in a more critical light, particularly when she presents herself as someone to go to in a time of need.

So, knowing this underlying nasty behavior goes around is certainly ensures that most of my time spent here becomes more and more a means to occupy my time rather than something important enough I'd care to continue when my circumstances change. Since it is like this for me, I can easily understand why it could / would be similar for others too.
