Converting VHS to DVD....?

Hello

I have an old VHS tape with a collection of Christmas home videos of us as children. It was saved from being thrown out. As it is Vhs I no longer have a player to play the films but I was wondering if anyone knew of a company that is able to convert the tape to a dvd for safe keeping and modern viewing.

It doesn't necessarily have to be someone in CH, they could b online but they just have be trust worthy as the tape has a lot of sentimental value.

Thanks.

Re: Converting VHS to DVD....?

I've got a VHS/DVD that records NTSC and PAL VHS to DVD, if you want to send me the tape and some DVDs.

Re: Converting VHS to DVD....?

Buying such a device would certainly be cheaper than having a company do it for you.

Of course if Tom does it for you that's even cheaper.

Re: Converting VHS to DVD....?

We have one too so we could also copy it for you. Will definitely be cheaper than getting a company to do it. We did the same with film my uncle had taken of us as kids and it came out quite well considering the quality of the original film.

Re: Converting VHS to DVD....?

If they're commercial - download them from a Bittorrent site. That's what I did.

Re: Converting VHS to DVD....?

Anyone got any experience of converting 8mm cine to digital?

Doing it yourself is a bit...interesting.

How many tapes (and how long)?

If it's just a few, no problem, just supply the DVDs, and some extras, sometimes they have errors (which is why I then rip mine onto a hard disk).

Re: Converting VHS to DVD....?

Its only the one, which is about 3 or 4 hours long. Not sure on the exact time as I can't play it

I'll get some DVDs. Could you PM me your details for posting?

Thanks :-)

Re: Converting VHS to DVD....?

I bought a VHS player (that works) from our local Brocki (second-hand shop) for CHF5.-, they had a few to chose from. Then with the adaptor above copied them to my computer. It’s in real time (play) and takes hours...
