English-speaking GYN in Florence, IT

Long shot, but anybody know anybody who might know of a good OB/GYN in Florence who speaks English?

A friend from the States has a daughter studying in Florence who needs a procedure done. Of course, my friend wrote to ME, because she is American and she thinks that since Lausanne and Florence look soooo close together on the map that I would have first-hand knowledge in this matter.

But, she is a friend, so I will try to help her out. Anybody?

I can't help with your query but I would not get anything medical done to me in Italy. Surely the go would be to travel to a more advanced part of the world such as CH?

I don't have first hand knowledge but have asked a good friend in florence who works with american university students for her advice. I'll let you know if she can give me any useful information.

please ignore the evidently uninformed comments on italy's supposedly uncivilized medical system. of course she will be able to find excellent advice.
one thing, though, might be that even good italian professionals are not often fluent in english. your friend's daughter might consider taking an italian speaking friend to the doctor's (not easy, I know )

Re: English-speaking GYN in Florence, IT

You could always have her check with the U.S. consulate in Florence--that one is there largely to support the large U.S. university student population. The American Services branch may be able to help.

http://florence.usconsulate.gov/

From the website:
The American Citizen Services Unit is responsible for providing services to all Americans within its consular district, whether they are living here permanently or just visiting as tourists. These services include emergency assistance, notarials, reports of birth/death abroad, selective service registration, absentee voting, passport issuance, and more.

Is that because Italy has got some old stuff in it?
