You sent money to a not-yet-licensed "attorney" for legal services?

Going by your past communications HERE, most of the things I can think of to suggest that may help, are likely to land you in hot water as well. If I were living the shady side of life (as you appear to be), I'd simply chalk it up to "learning" and move on.

Next time hire a REAL attorney (you know, working in an actual verifiable law office), not some yahoo who only gives you their (possibly fake) name and bank acct info.

The misspellings and the choice of ALL CAPS make this communication look peculiarly un-bank-like, I must say.

I think you have been well and truly scammed.
this is my internal UBS letter directly from UBS department. I have no idea why they speak with all caps. It occurred only once

It does not matter now.
I ask just about theoretical possibility to sue the person who cheat me. I know his identity and I'm sure bank own all information about him.
If there are no chances to do anything, it's Ok.

I assume I can clarify his identity with his bank. I need only know what form statement of claim and where to send. State court? Or where?
if you know what State he lives in then you should contact the State Bar (the organization that is responsible for admission and licensing of attorneys) and file a complaint for unauthorized practice of law. as part of that proceeding, the State Bar will very likely order restitution (repayment of what you paid to him).

I'm guessing that you do not know what State he lives in, and very likely do not know his real name, however.

It does matter because IF the guy used a fake name, the "best" way for anyone to track down who he is / where your money went will be from info on YOUR computer - where there is a trail (at least on this forum, I assume elsewhere) of you advocating shady dealings, at the very least.

If they start looking into your computer and finances to try to track this money, will you look clean, or will they find things to go after you about too? You'd be more likely to get help if they don't think (or find) you to be a "scam artist" yourself - which, from your posts about property "ownership" here, seems more than a little doubtful.

This is just too bizarre, especially taken with the previous thread on how to illegally own Thai real estate

To be blunt I can't imagine why you would transfer that much money to a student for legal advice, just seems so weird.

There are small claims courts in all states and counties, but I'm not aware of ones where you can file by mail as you must present photo ID that is recognized, such as a US drivers license or your passport, in order to file the claim. Then you get a court date and you have to appear in person in front of the judge to make your case. If you don't live there then the flights and the hotel costs will quickly add up to more than the 1000 you say you lost.

Bottom line...if this really did happen then count your blessings the loss wasn't worse and remember this as a lesson learned about what not to do in the future.

The reason I sound so skeptical of your story is that you were previously posting/selling the idea about how easy it is to get around Thai real estate ownership laws and trying to convince people here it's a great idea. To me you are lacking in ethics and that makes you not credible to me

sorry I call BS on that! you're an external UBS customer right? eg you don't work for UBS? and you recon they sent you an email in txt speak and all in caps??

Not really sure what the point of this thread is to be honest, either a 'joke' thread, or you're so stupid you need to be told regularly how to breath
