the new iron pig

Yup! Went out and spent a bit of money yesterday.
The big red two wheeled Slammer-ride aka. "The iron pig" has been put out to pasture, burnt clutch, (after 235.000 K`s) electric-trick problems, brake pads, disks etc. fork and bearing problems and the famous (for a LT at least) rain-growl plus the MFK did what countless mountain passes could not.
So this is the new Slammer-ride.
95 model, ex-police, 40.000 K`s on the clock, new MFK and in a perfect condition for 2500 Chuff`s, when did the fuzz ride them things?

I wonder how the white fairing would look with a airbrushed tribal?

Re: the new iron pig

Pick a motorbike up from Chur and ride it back to Basel.
Sounds simple and easy..
..Only Slammer doesn`t..
..do..
Simple..
..and..
..easy!
Got the bike, kicked the tires and lit the fires.
She was freshly MFKed however at the MFK they took away the police toys like the NahNah NahNah horn and the cool blue flashing lights.
Bummer, now I had to imagine the lightshow and sing NahNah NahNah into my helmet.
Slammer does things like that.
I rode up under a brilliant blue sky on a bone dry Autobahn, through Chur and past Sargans, high craggy rocky mountains capped with snow, wound along the Fjord like Walensee into the dusk, the mountains glowed orange and red with the setting sun, a fantastic ride. Getting near to Zürich almost at Ziegelbrücke.
I was enjoying riding a ex-police bike as other motorists did not know that the bike had a "ex" prefix.
Cars would slow down to the regulation speed limit as soon as they saw the white fairing and Police bike layout. I was enjoying myself snicking up behind a BMW or a Merc or a Porche and did my best not to giggle when they reduced speed to the regulation speed limits.
Oh fun, fun, fun! I was gonna enjoy riding this bike.
However.
When IP1 was running low on fuel she would whine like any woman and I knew that I had roughly 10 Klicks left until game over.
Not IP2 , IP2 just stops dead when the needle hits 1/4..
Now the tables turned and motorists looked at my predicament with glee thinking cop bike, stupid idiot walking, lets give the bugger the finger and do a Nelson.
HaHa!
IP2 became a Draisine 600 meters short of the next exit, an hour later I had a few liters of petrol in a juice container and was walking back along the motorway.
Did I mention that next to the exit was also a police station?
Seems like they too had seen a police bike and not an ex-police bike and were wondering where the rider, their "colleague," had gotten to.
I walked back to two waiting patrol cars, four cops pawed and mauled me for 10 minutes or so before loosing interest, I was wished a "Gute Reise" and they left.
Back in Basel by ten.

Re: the new iron pig

That's what you get for riding a BMW.

Meanwhile, I have a disassembled R90S motor with a (literally) broken crank, and an R100S motor, also in pieces, that I'm supposed to somhow combine into something that works, never having had assembled a BMW motor befor (I did disassemble the one with the broken crank).

Now, I can build a Guzzi motor without looking at the manual (except for looking of some clearance and torque values), a Ducati motor with barely looking at the manual, but even WITH the manual the BMW seems to be a total PITA!

Well Tom, I believe Slammer has't reached that stage as yet. His main struggles still lay with finding the gas tank.
