Some years back I was watching the release of Grand Theft Auto IV on the news, and they showed a very long line of men, interspersed with children queuing outside a Virgin Megastore in London. As soon as the doors opened, kids were getting pushed aside in the mad scramble to be the first to own the game.

Just take a minute.......... Grown men elbowing children in the face for a computer game. Jesus Wept
Yeah, it's called extremist behavior. Some people go too far for things that make them feel good. Be it love, religion, sports, and video games. None of it is inherently more childish than anything else and there's nothing to be puzzled or dismissive about.

What were the kids doing there? It had an 18 rating, they wouldn't have been able to buy it anyway.

And they were being elbowed in the face by their own dads

LiB, I've never actually played any of the GTA games, so I'm afraid I missed out on that particular episode.

Dear Russkov, there is a fine difference between mediocre medieval behavior and common folks striving for something. I don't even know how you can put sports in the same sentence as video games.
I for one, would never stand in line to get any products just simply because they're a novelty.....since I'm known to walk the higher path, I wouldn't even want the product unless I get it for free and prior to most general consumers/customers.

That said, I have more respect for the skills of a high-level professional video gamer than, say, a professional bowler. Starcraft 2 has become the second most popular sport in South Korea, only after football. Tournaments are shown on live TV, it's kind of nuts.

Re: Playstation Vita out tomorrow

So, did anyone actually get the PS Vita? I was thinking of picking up one, but the store could not assure me that the games were playable in English (most of them are only in German...).
