Orchids, care n love?

I have an orchid area around my work place.
my Doctor has the same, and , unless im nuts, i have the same.. some of his are always in flower.Although mine are not...
Have tried feeding times, watering, etc
Trays , and even music.
I know people who always seem to have perfect orchids..what am i doing wrong ?
Any advice would be good advice,

P.s. i buy impusively from co op or migros..

You may want to visit the link

They probably need more light.

Need light to grow, more than 4/6 hours. Water every week by submerging the whole pot into a bucket of luke warm water, then leave for 10 minutes to drain. Fertilise every 2 weeks. I have about 8 and are all flowering, but we face south which is the main factor.

Good luck

Re: Orchids, care n love?

Some places just seem to be 'better' for orchids than others. One of my friends used to live in a house that had a corridor which orchids loved. They were always in flower, etc. I have one orchid, last year I sent it there for a 3 month stay at the 'orchid hospital', and it came back looking much happier and is now in full health! She gave it the same treatment I gave it at mine... it just liked her home better! Sadly she has now moved.

On the other hand, she had an olive tree that had to go to my parents every winter because their garden was too cold...

So perhaps your environment is just not as orchid friendly as your doctor's?

Re: Orchids, care n love?

My mother is an avid orchid grower. She tells me i should not get any water on the leaves themselves, particularly inside the base of the orchid from where the leaves sprout.
