The new Android beasts are out

http://techcrunch.com/2012/02/26/htc...e-s-and-one-v/

Quad-core processor, 4.7" HD screen with Gorilla glass (non-pentile LCD), lighter than an iPhone 4S, one heck of a camera, 32gb of memory, Beats Audio, 25gb of Dropbox space for two years included - I'm sold already. Just pre-ordered mine.

The rest of HTC's line-up isn't bad, either.

Also looking forward to seeing some reviews on the new 10.1" Galaxy Note.

Peter

Is it just me or did anyone else misread that as "Android breasts are out"?

Re: The new Android beasts are out

I'm happy with my S2 for another year, and I have to say the size of these phones is getting out of hand (no pun intended). If they can optimize the size to have a slightly bigger screen while not being any bigger than the S2, I'll think about it. But even the S2 is already a tad above the limit of what I consider tolerable.

It will be interesting to see what HTC does with their One, Samsung with their Galaxy, and Motorola with their Razr lines in the next 18 months, I like that they're focusing on making intermediate phones in smaller sizes (One V and S).

Hopefully they'll have a quad-core offering with all the features of the One X and Galaxy S3 in a smaller size come 2013.

Re: The new Android beasts are out

If I were going to get an Android phone I'd definitely choose the Samsung over the HTC. My previous phone was the Galaxy SII and my current phone is the HTC Titan (which most closely resembles the One X in terms of size and chasis design).

ditto. i currently have htc desire z and samsung galaxy note. much prefer samsung's customizations to htc's sense ui.

samsung also make lighter devices. i prefer this to heavy glass/metal constructions of HTC/apple.

will probably replace the HTC with a Samsung Pro if they ever release a decent model in that form factor.

I have always been a fan of HTC (since 2005) up to the Desire HD model. My main complain is they haven't improved the battery life of their devices.

Now i am also moving to Samsung galaxy S3 (soon) and Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7. Samsung devices have far more better battery life.

Using a Titan here myself at the moment. Got rid of the Lumia because the screen was too small for my taste. The Titan is pretty great. Won't be selling that one anytime soon, but I'm looking for a work phone as well. I personally like Samsung hardware a lot but I can't stand their Touchwiz UI. Much prefer Sense UI over that.

How would you know? The Galaxy Nexus' battery life is pretty bad.

Congrats, didn't take long
Do you notice a wee bit of movement in the z-axis, almost like a squelchy feeling if you push the screen down hard enough? Its obviously due to the springs but I can't help but feel that it detracts from an otherwise rock-solid build quality. Looking at the HTC One X, the backplate design is identical so expect that to be the same.

Technically, I didn't exactly buy the Lumia :-)

No, I can't say mine does that - but I only just got it today. Will have to look at it a bit more closely (not going to happen anytime soon, my first child was born today)

It's a lot like iOS but looks nicer and is somewhat more innovative. Of course, that's my personal opinion.

It's like iOS in that it

- doesn't have real multi-tasking
- is a closed system
- is very fast (totally lag free)

There aren't as many apps but the apps pretty much all look good.

I personally like it a lot.
