Why the hell can't Amercan's add country codes to their emailed contact details?

As well as being arrogant, don't they realise that the single click smart phones mean that they are the only people for whom us foreigners need to search out a piece of paper and pencil, rather than just click n' call

That's all

Easy. Apparently with some phones, you can select the number and then click a single button to call. When Americans dont put the + in front of the number, the number comes out as invalid

Therefore if you cannot edit the number on your phone, you have to write it down and then dial it with the 00 in front.

That or memorize a 10 digit number

Country codes ----> Smart phones -----> +'s/apostrophes -----> Mormons.

That is one interesting progression.

Ahhh, s'ok, Dantesheaven took care of it already.

I'm still not quite sure I get the rant though. My mother calls me here, I hit redial and voila, phonecall made.

Unless you mean to tell me your "smart" phone is not as smart as my average Joe cheepey landline handset?

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (aka LDS) is the religion, it may also be referred to as The Mormon Church.
A Mormon is a member of the above.

Re: Why the hell can't Amercan's add country codes to their emailed contact details?

And on international correspondence they write a two letter abbreviation of a the US state but don't write the country name.
I once worked in the UK for a subsidiary of a Silicon Valley corporation. They issued a didictat that ALL users of the software I alone used in the UK, MUST attend COMPULSARY training at HQ in California. I showed my boss, the Finance Director and he smiled and said knowingly that it was only meant for California/US staff but agreed to let me go (the firm was very profitable) as I'd worked so hard.
Well of course when I started speaking with an English accent during the two day course the organiser was bewildered. I hope "HE" also learned a lesson out of the training.
At the training I met a really nice cool black American colleague, named Adolph!!

A quick question to Americans out there in EF land. Do you use or know what the English word 'Botch' is? I think it's solely used in England and maybe down under. Just curious. (This is a serious query by the way, not a joke.)

I am American; and botch means seriously f-ing something up, as in, "Those accounting dudes seriously botched up the budget to actual reports," or "Wow, I can't believe how badly I botched that cake for the church social."

"botch" is basically the same as "sy-gogglin", AKA "FUBAR".

A botch job in British English is something (especially a repair) done "quick and dirty", and probably not made to last.
