Do you post about things that matter to you here?

Why or why not?

How do you decide?

No, not things that matter because replies/advice here is/are like the rest of the internet; I mean ranging from very sound to very barmy. I do not know how to tell which advice is which.

I post only about things that interest me & when I am interested to hear other diverse opinions on the topic.

I normally post stuff in a vain attempt to inflate my ego and to belittle others, whether they deserve it or not.

Sarcasm is fine, it's an answer in a way I guess.

I am genuinely interested.

I am only on two forums (not the other CH forum) and they are extremely different. I think my expectations need adjusting sometimes, which is okay too. Just curious how others make the decision, as I find myself exploring my silly side more here and keeping my more serious ideas to myself.

Re: Do you post about things that matter to you here?

Some I do, as you saw today. Some I keep to myself or just share with friends.

Part of the reason I do here though, is that it helps identify (to a greater or lesser degree) which folks I might to out of my way to spend time with outside the forum. Of course, some folks who behave one way are completely different - both good and bad - in real life / face-to-face, so this idea isn't a sure thing anyhow.

Re: Do you post about things that matter to you here?

Generally I post very little here other then replies to others.

The reason why is simple! This forum seems to be dominated by people who seem to have a gripe about anything and everything. Someone asks a sensible question about public vs international schools and gets beaten up about why they want such a decision. If it's not that then it is generally displaying how racist people are or making sweeping comments to downgrade the Swiss.

If you put a posting on here you usually need to be prepared for 101 sarcastic responses and the occassional helpful person

Re: Do you post about things that matter to you here?

Firstly, I've said it before and I'll say it again - "It's only a forum".

If people are relying on this as their primary source of information on important issues concerning their lives, then maybe they should be elsewhere doing something less risky as attempting to exist in a foreign land.

For myself, I seldom initiate threads and reply as and when time and mood dictates.

I believe I know little bits of uselessness about lots of things, and if I'm in a benevolent mood, then I'll attempt to offer assistance and/or advice.

More often than not, though, I'm a drive-by poster, here and there throughout the day.

I'm naturally a very humorous person, but in order not to appear too conceited or arrogant, I have to dumb down my extreme wit a lot, and find here is the perfect place to practice being a dickhead.

Oh .... and I need to practice my typing.

Re: Do you post about things that matter to you here?

No, other than to ask for completely generic non-personal questions like where to find some product or service, or a rare posting about my experience with something that I think others might find usefull

I never, ever post personal matters/questions/whatever to a public forum made up of anonymous users looking for feedback and/or advice
