US taxes...

OK, I accept that the IRS and the US gummint have to get their pound of flesh (can't say I like it...) but why do they have to make the damn forms so ridiculously complicated? My taxes aren't that complex but this dancing back and forth between the different worksheets for line 44 has me just about tearing my hair out.

Between the Tax Computation Worksheet, the Qualified Dividends Worksheet and the Foreign Earned Income Worksheet, I can get anywhere between 0 and about 37000 dollars, which I doubt since that is more than I earned after deductions.

This is just mind boggling.

Re: US taxes...

I feel your pain. Been there, done that, then decided to get a qualified U.S. tax advisor to handle my tax forms. I think the majority of American tax payers use accountants to fill out tax forms due to their complexity.

Why can I do my Swiss taxes in 2 hours, but my U.S. taxes take more than a day and I'm still not sure I got it right?! The I.R.S. should get their s**t together and simplify the process. It really gets me I have to pay someone to help me hand over my hard earned money to a country where I don't live.
