Locating lost mobile..

Hey Guys,
wondering if you came across any tool/software/site which can help in locating the lost mobile(switched-off, with SIM)..

There was a very useful piece of advice I once read in the UK lifestyle magazine Viz. It cleverly suggested that you tie a piece of string through everything you own. Then, if you ever lose anything, just follow the string from beginning to the end and you're bound to find it.

If you lend something to somebody, do you keep that item on the string or disconnect it?

If you have lost a phone which is not a smart phone (like an iPhone) all you can do is inform your phone provider and they will switch it off. But you will need a new phone and SIM card, but will most likely be able to keep the number...
