All post offices will receive mail addressed "Post Restante" or "Post Lagernd" and keep it for about 28 days, free of charge. If you don't collect, it is destroyed.

It depends on what you're trying to accomplish. I suspect you're looking for a delivery address to avoid paying customs charges, rather than a place to have letters sent.

In which case, you should look at one of the cross-border delivery services. Everyone I know (including myself) uses this one, just across the border in Weil-am-Rhein. It'll cost you a couple of euros for each parcel/letter you receive:

No, you don't need to be a resident of Germany/France to use the services where you pay a couple of francs to pick up your mail just over the border. The high streets of most German border towns will have at least a couple of such services - just look for the signs in shop windows.

Signs like 'paketservice' and other variations, tend to be in newsagents and post offices.

Hi, I use www.mygermany.com. Here you find good package forwarding services. They are quite fast, the homepage is not the best but they are reliable...
