I really hope the madness of the landing system works! It will be a massive achievement if this works. Fingers crossed.

Re: Curiosity

Is it me, or is it strange that a thread about something with possibly large consequences for mankind has 2 replies and a thread asking how many pets you have...has 80 replies?

Does that tell you something about the EF membership?

Hopefully it won't bring back with it any creepy new alien life forms to infect the planet and make us all grow three sets of genitals.

Curiosity is down and alive and kicking, the "crazy" landing was exciting to the last second.
Well done NASA and go curiosity.

Any amazement at discovering life has already taken a back seat to the amazing achievement of the NASA engineers getting this SkyCrane landing system to work, as it would appear, flawlessly, and then getting the first images within minutes of touchdown. Let's hope the rest of the mission goes as smoothly.

You may well have seen it correctly, and it's highly likely to be a Korean name.

I for one, would like to see Opportunity and Curiosity battle it out robot-wars style for the first inter-planetary title.

Opportunity would have no chance - Curiosity would ride into battle with it's own dropship, and it's got a laser
