Midland, MI

Hi there,

My friend's husband got a job offer in Midland, MI and she is very worried aboutthe place as she was told that it is a very small town and very quiet. She isworried mainly about schooling ( her kids are 6 and 2) and speak English andGerman also about living standard and things to do in Midland, shopping findingwork herself… many issues

I really want to help her out.. Any feedback or experience living inMidland, MI would surely help..

Thank a lot

Re: Midland, MI

There are 42,000 residents in Midland, MI -- how many did you expect to find on a forum for English-speakers in Switzerland?

On the plus side, the city was named #4 Best Small City to raise a family in by Forbes Magazine. So it can't be all bad. And if you're a tennis player, it's apparently the Best Tennis Town in America.

In fact, it sounds a little bit like Switzerland.

Re: Midland, MI

Most boring place I ever had the misfortune to visit.
More churches than you can throw a stick at.
Water smells of chlorine - undrinkable.
Cold in winter
just horrible place.

Mogadishu (sp) slightly better

Re: Midland, MI

Northern Michigan, 2 hours north of Detroit.
  • Michigan Militia - get yourself a gun!
  • 4 seasons
  • Hard winters in the Great Lakes region
  • Lovely summers
  • If you like sailing or water sports, that's great in this area
  • Flint, MI - home of Michael Moore - is just down the road. Avoid.
