Best to post further here: https://www.englishforum.ch/swiss-po...ml#post2821942
since it doesn't seem to involve guns.

Like 'man with van' type posts. I was like meh! I don't need to cut down any trees, I won't check out that thread.

Kurdish Iraqi has a row with the staff of his father-in-law's club. http://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-40770258
Then he goes home and fetches an M16 (good for him that he had one at hand for the occasion), returns to the club and starts shooting up the place, because that's what you do in such cases, right?
Jesus Christ.
Now even people in Europe have to teach their kids the difference between the sound of fireworks and the sound of various small-arms, semi-automatics and even automatic weapons.
"Was that an AK47 or an M16?"
"Don't know, maybe it was one of those Chinese knock-offs of the AK47 that are just about everywhere these days. It's an epidemic, I'm telling you."

Also, my military training was in 1994/1995. We didn't get to shoot (or hear) many different kinds of small-arms, much less something like an AK47 or an M16
I studied in Konstanz. These kinds of shootings are a new thing.
Damn millenials ;-)
Yes, we had terrorist attacks on US forces or politicians, with explosives and automatic weapons.
But "going postal" was an American thing. We covered it in school.

I remember an incident in Baden a few years back, this guy had been cleaned out at the casino, went home, got his army gun, went into the bar at the Kappelerhof and blasted the place. They could still keep ammunition at home in those days.
One kid was killed, unfortunately.

That's Switzerland, where everybody has an automatic rifle at home.
Well, every Swiss male.
I really wonder where that guy got his M16.
I bet his arms-dealer is shitting bricks now.

Oh, I tell a lie, as I think some of the local hunters here in Alsace may use rifles for wild bore, so it's possible that some of the distant bangs we hear very occasionally may be hunting rifles, but I wouldn't know the difference in sound.
[1] Except on TV or movies, which I'm sure doesn't sound like the real thing.

I beg to differ, it definitely was charging me - repeatedly
Cows in general I've come across are quite docile and more often spooked by humans, unless they are with their baby or a bull is nearby. In which case I've had farmers remind me to avoid locking eye contact or getting near a baby

Maybe they're still rolling with the 'any publicity is good publicity', they do have a history of doing ridiculous things, then apologizing quickly
