Re: A shooting just happened in ( *fill in the blank * )

And how about an early birthday gift for your 1 year old.

http://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-33724060

A lifetime hunting/fishing licence granted before they're even old enough to know what a gun or fishing rod is.

"On Tuesday officials began offering 'The Newborn Lifetime Combination Hunting and Fishing License' to residents under one year old. Daylen is six-months-old.

Lifetime permits are available to adults as well, but for a higher price.

The only negative feedback the department has received so far is from parents of toddlers who are slightly too old to apply for the less expensive lifetime permit, according to Evan Mulholland, an official with New Hampshire Fish and Game."

Wonderful.

Fishing rods don't kill people, fishermen do.

Or are you upset that people will use guns for hunting?

Re: A shooting just happened in ( *fill in the blank * )

Cincinnati : http://www.nytimes.com/2015/07/30/op...bose.html?_r=0

Samuel DuBose was a 43-year-old unarmed black man who was shot July 19 in the head and killed by a University of Cincinnati police officer, Ray Tensing, during a traffic stop a few blocks from campus.

“Officer Tensing stated that he almost was run over by the driver of the Honda Accord and was forced to shoot the driver with his duty weapon.”

Hamilton County prosecutor, Joe Deters, said “This [the shooting] is without question a murder.”

How come you may ask: The police man was wearing a body cam and the video proves that none of that happened. It was an execution.

A come on, barely two days . That's lightning speed in Local standard.
And AFAIK faster than the Swiss press. http://www.nzz.ch/international/ein-...ord-1.18587893

Here an initial press piece from July 21 long before the body cam footage became evidence: http://edition.cnn.com/2015/07/21/us...ing/index.html

And here a click and watch on your own risk link to the Time magazine, from Wednesday evening: http://time.com/3976976/samuel-dubose-footage/

Re: A shooting just happened in ( *fill in the blank * )

The "story" is that the justice system seems to be working as they have indicted the officer on murder charges and his trial will start shortly. The victim's mother I believe is asking for calm and wishes due process to run its course. Very elegant even though her son was denied the same.

"Audrey DuBose choked up as she spoke about God and her faith, even reading from Psalm 93. She expressed her deepest relief that justice is being done.
When asked about the indictment, DuBose said, “I thought it was gonna be covered up… but like I said, I trust God, and I knew it was gonna be all right.”"

But that just isn't as emotive as, WHITE COP SHOOTS BLACK MAN!!!!!!!!

The story for me is:
- body cams are a good tool when the owner can not stop or erase the recording (not true for police body cams used in Germany).
- Einstein was right, about the universe, infinity and such.

I'm not upset, just in despair that anyone could think this is a great idea.

It's a license to hunt or fish, NOT a license to own a gun.

And, the child will still need to pass a safety course to obtain the hunting part of the license.

Good Samaritans killed after helping driver in Montana

An 18-year-old man has been arrested after police say he shot and killed two people who stopped to help him along a road in a Montana Indian reservation.

I think it's a great idea. Where's the problem? You do realize that this kid won't be hunting or fishing at 6 months old, right?

Where I live there's a 20ish year waiting list to get a spot for a boat on the Rhine, and it isn't unheard of for people to put young kids on the list. That doesn't mean you'll have a 2 year old motoring down the Rhine.

This is just a way to get a lifetime license for a kid at a drastically reduced cost. I'd get my kids a lifetime fishing license in a heartbeat if something similar were offered here.

I don't see a problem either, though I'd never purchase one even if I had kids. There's quite a difference between killing an animal and killing a human, way beyond the il/legality.
