Swiss Post Boxes

A very strange question but where can I buy a swiss post box/pole.

Specifically one with a swiss post horn on it?

My fathers after one in England and I have no idea where to start the search!!

Thanks

Not sure if they have them but the Post now have a mail order shop selling all sorts of stuff, it'd be odd if they didn't sell Post boxes

To the best of my knowledge you are not allowed to buy one as they are only permitted to be displayed by the Swiss post. You could search out for a derelict or old post office and borrow one. There are plenty knocking around so to speak... Maybe I know someone...

I'd be surprised if they let any out of their control. It's a major security issue to have post boxes out there that aren't genuine Swiss Post. People might put mail in them expecting that they are. There are no guarantees the box wouldn't find it's way back to Switzerland.

Oh, those will be found at a place like Jumbo, Obi or COOP Bau + Hobby. But they won't have a horn on them. You could try a antique shop for an old cast iron one, but I think they've very rare.

Re: Swiss Post Boxes

The first post boxes were integrated in front doors here, that's probably why there are no boxes with post horn on them. However I've found some other, genuinely Swiss designs:

Rutschmann Arosa Edelweiss

Stierlin Swiss Aluriffel

Rutschmann Fribourg

Did I hear somebody say "Kitsch"?

Haha cow pattern. Would you put that on you're drive?

Unfortunately he's specifically after one with a post horn awkward sod. He can speak swiss-german + german fluently so I should have sent him on the mission really <sigh>

Re: Swiss Post Boxes

I only found this offer. Post horn and metal, but wall- rather than pole-mounted and the seller possibly does not send to Switzerland...
