Re: Any Pentax fans

Mmm I used to be as I has an S1a manual SLR many years ago, but I recently bought a Pentax digital compact which is absolutely dreadful. Still the Asahi Pentax SLR lenses are still good...

Re: Any Pentax fans

I've got an old K1000, but I haven't used it in quite some time. I doubt I'll go back to using film. I did like my five-star lens for it quite a bit, though.

I have a K10d, the first Pentax I ever had, and I must say I like the control placements and lenses very much. Rekindled a love for photography.

I wondered how long it before I got one of those sorts of replies. Did not take that long. Well done.

Re: Any Pentax fans

I have an ME Super and a Super A I use for my infrared work. But after going digital, I do not do it as often... Lenses are still excellent.

Re: Any Pentax fans

Not Pentax related, but in January this year I bought my first SLR,
a Nikon EM 35mm and Tokina and 35-70 zoom, for about 7 chf from the junk box at Grau Photo Optik in Zug.

They even had some past date 35 film. Some was free, other films 1 CHF. Hopefully they will have another sale this year.

Grau almost always have decent brand past date film for half price.
Since then I became hooked. I have picked up some amazing gear on Ebay and Ricardo, including a fast 1.2 lens.

Prices are dropping as people buy SLRs ready for Christmas. Now could be a good time to pick up used lens. Be choosey, and still get the best for a song...

Re: Any Pentax fans

Pentax second-hand lens seem to have dried up. at least 50mm macro, which is what I am after. However I found one on Ricardo.

While I've been shooting Nikon for years now, I still have an old Russian-made Zenit that uses Pentax K-Mount. The K-Mount was definitely one of the best mounts ever made - mainly for its compatibility.

Yes that is very true, and even the older screw mount lenses can be fitted to the modern K10d DSLR.

Re: Any Pentax fans

I've been a Pentax user since high school K1000 --> P30N --> *istDL

There was a gap for a few years between using the P30N and getting the *istDL, where I used a digital point and shoot. I was very impressed that older K-mount lenses (30+ years old) could still be used on the latest digital SLR's. Much credit to Pentax. In addition the kit lens, I use my old SMC lenses, have bought a few primes on Ebay and "borrowed" a Sigma AF 100-300mm zoom from my Dad. A lot of entertainment for low cost. The older Pentax lenses are becoming rarer and more expensive as increasing numbers have taken up DSLR and have discovered the usefullness of the old lenses.

Anyways, for those really interested, these are great specific forums:
