Dating swiss men and or women

this i understand has probably been done to death. but why are so many peoples opinions on the men and esp. women boring? when i was in switzerland in july/august i must admit i didn't met any women so i can't speak for them, but i went to switzerland because i followed my heart with a male i met at a club in berlin, i didn't know him from a bar of soap, but he was the kindest, most sweetest, handsome man i've ever come across in my entire life. i think the swiss men are a special breed of men and ANY woman would be so lucky to have one in their lives, i do and he is the only thing that gets me through the day being back here in australia. i can't wait to come back in december! switzerland is a little gem and everyone should experience what it brings, i certainly feel inlove with it!!

You met a man in a pub in Germany. Followed your heart (him) to Switzerland. You did not know him from a bar of soap - and somehow you came to the conclusion he was the kindest, most sweetest man you`d ever come across in your entire life?

You are returning in December to this same man? Well, maybe it wasn`t just a "holiday romance" and he is still the same person you believe he is. I hope so, for you. Just don`t be too disappointed if you don`t find him again.

Re: Dating swiss men and or women

Glad you've found someone you match well with. I wish you two success.

From my experiences, yours is not uncommon. I find the Swiss people to be very traditional in gender roles and hence, many Swiss men are respectable, quiet, serious, strong hard workers who put their women on a protective pedestal--I think this is the perfect man for many women around the world. The Swiss-women I find are also traditional, they expect the men to work hard to impress and peacock over all the other competing suitors in more of an old fashioned gender role style. --this is great for some couples as well. But there is a trend of swiss males going abroad (commonly to South America) to find and successfully partner with their dream women. For me, I definitely prefer the more liberated non-swiss women (and on a side note, I find most Swiss men rather boring for colleges). This is NOT absolute and obviously not everyone is like this, but I would wager to say the average of people like this is higher than that of other 1st world countries.

Follow your heart, but go slowly and be careful...

True love takes time. And people often act differently early on in relationships and then begin to show their "true colors" as the relationship progresses. This is what happened with my Swiss husband. I do love him, but he's very different now from how he was when we first met (and that was only 4 years ago). He is now... well, let's just say that he is now much more "typical Swiss."

yes i agree!! oh for sure! i've been so used to getting involved with complete f**kwits, when i met him i thought it was an act because i wasn't used to being treated with such a high level of respect, chivalry at its finest. and a few others i met (swiss/german) they seemed to be exactly the same, really reserved and i LOVE how family orientated such young people are there, it's not really like that in australia, i was staying with him and his mum, but here in australia if you go on a date, you'd be lucky to ever meet the parents unless it was completely serious.

Welcome to the forum!

I am not sure if I would be a little scared if someone followed me back to my home country after meeting in a club. But good luck to you

As for the boring tag? It appears you have not slept with him yet perhaps?

I am now about to be 43, I am American (I think Carrie is also?), my husband is Swiss.

This woman on a pedestal thing is great at first, especially coming from someplace where this isn't necessarily common anymore. It gets wearing though, after a while.

My first piece of advice is to enjoy the "vacation" times together, but keep in mind this vital bit: Do not let the "Don't worry your pretty little head" thing go too far or too long, it is (very) hard to climb back out of, particularly as "he" won't be the only one with that attitude.

I find it a bit sad that someone is excited about having met someone special, and so many people join in to rain on her parade, so to say..

of course some caution is warranted, but she's clearly not a teenager.

Vanessa - I'm happy for you and hope it all turns out for the best.

Okay, so you`ve enlarged a bit more on the story, which sounds rather nice, staying with his family. I admire you, going with your heart, and hope things work out wonderfully for you, and your man.
