The link "<Sign here>" doesn't work - if it did you'd have only needed a further 49,998 signatures.

Re: The official Bah Humbug! thread

My husband and I promised ourselves last year that we'd disappear up some mountain for Christmas this year, where MIL and SIL cannot reach us. The actual status at the moment is, both will be spending Christmas (24th and 25th) with us at home (MY HOME) this year Why oh why am I so weak and give in every time
Castro - count me in on your signature list for next year

Ha ha...that is the best defence when you get the inevitable "Aren't you a Brummie" - "Oi! I was born in Worcestershire, you cheeky get!"

How far we have strayed from the true meaning of Christmas, ...
The meaning of Christmas, the birth of Christ? Or the meaning
of Christmas, the celebration of the Solstice?
.

The birth of Christ of course. I used to love acting in our yearly nativity plays, I actually played a wise man (aged 6) and then I made it to Inn Keeper (aged 9) but somehow I was never quite good enough to play Joseph BTW does anyone have a VHS video player? - I live in Basel

I'm trying to get a job as a Shopping mall Santa... I'm old, grumpy, I hate kids and my breath reeks of booze and cigarettes.

Dreading Xmas

Is it just me or is anyone else dreading Xmas.??
I've been in Zurich over 30 years and have always enjoyed Xmas, but in the last few years my parents have died (always came at Xmas) 2 really good friends have died, 3 other really good friends have moved back to home countries and my kids are grown up and have own lives( will see them christmas day)
If this growing old thing continues I don't like it need to find ways of making new friends, but that also isn't so easy as you go 55+
Sorry just felt like having a moan

Re: Dreading Xmas

Christmas can be a tough time of year that is so true. So much talk about families & friends can be depressing when you have lost people close to you. Can you use Christmas as an opportunity to celebrate the lives of your parents & friends to remember them is a positive, happy way instead of mourning them? Also join in some of the events that are organised on the forum, not everyone is in the 20's here .

Re: Dreading Xmas

Apparently it's just you then.

Well, no. It's not. I know quite a few people in your situation - we invite a few to spend Christmas with our family. Some of them celebrate Christmas together.

Re: Dreading Xmas

You are not alone . I never enjoyed Christmas, not even when I was a kid. I feel like going to bed on the 24th and not getting up until Boxing Day...
I wonder if it gets any better.

Re: Dreading Xmas

Not in the same league as tesso's moan, but still...

I am feeling slightly apprehensive about Christmas as I have a very special 'gift' for my parents this year: their first ever son-in-law.

I just hope they like him, cause I didn't keep the receipt.
