Re: Healthy/Vegan food tips [Merged]

Why start a new thread when this one already has tons of recipes in it? Just report this one to the mods and ask them to move it.

Because the other is in off-topic and so people cannot thank for recipes (an indication of the quality of the recipe), and the problem I have is with the word Healthy and it's usage in the other threads in the way of preaching.

They're vegan recipes. Let the forum user decide whether they are healthy.

Those here who are adults and still eat loads of junk aren't likely to suddenly change if they see the word "Healthy". There's enough stuff in the media already about healthy eating.

Oh, and the mods hate me.

Agreed 100%. I like food and new recipes, don't like them with a side of dogma.

If we have a separate thread in food and drink for vegan food, because it is healthy, then we ought to be allowed a thread for pescetarians (Lake fish only, obviously), and to be honest, for normal eating as lots of this is healthy - it's the quantity consumed that's the problem.

Or, we could put all the food made in Switzerland in the Post photos of what you cook and bake in Switzerland thread (as Mimi suggested) and people can search that thread for the word Vegan.

And, let the forum users decide what's healthy, or not.
I didn't suggest to merge the thread with that one. I see there would be a real interest for vegan's to have a thread dedicated to them as 90% of the recipes would not cater to them (mind you, saying that vegan chappy has posted a LOT of recipes recently so it could be us meat eaters outnumbered).

I just said the thread should be in the same area of the forum.

I've started a vegan recipe thread in the food and drink section. Here

It's confusing having the recipes all over the forum.
In a way though it's like real life. I don't buy a cook book with all the recipes of the world in it. I choose based on dishes I like. Granted, some books have a selection from every kind of cooking, but it is nice to have a speciality one.

I'm surprised is still hasn't been moved to tehe Food & Drink section... the moderating really is sometimes rather erratic in this place.

Vegan cuisine is vegan cuisine, it's nothing special except to the people who think it is. In the end it's just food.

I don't think it's the cuisine that's disliked, but rather the tone of your initial posts. As others have said, if you leave the food as food and don't append value judgements then it seems far more welcome.

There are lots of variations on a vegetarian diet. Most strict are vegans, who eschew any kind of animal products, including butter and eggs
Thanks for that. Is that the same for the whole of the US or only the united state in which you live?

So now you think it is special... sorta proves his point, dontchathink?

Ultimately, as with all dietary choices, for those who don't buy into the lifestyle it's just another way of preparing food.

Of course you disagree, because you are obviously very serious (and dare I say arrogant) about your passion: vegan food.

However, to other people who are not vegans, don't give much of a toss about vegan food, and never will be vegan (that's me, by the way), then it is just another food class. If you want to delude yourself into thinking that inside every meat eater is a vegan waiting to get out, then you are also perfectly entitled... despite all the statistical evidence and studies pointing that the vast majority of vegans and vegetarians do in fact eventually go back to meat.

I'm not surprised. Mods don't like their choices being questioned. It's like telling the pope he's wrong to be anti-contraception.

I'm not sure its down to trolling, he's just clearly a bit (to put it mildly) nuts, and possibly not the sharpest tool in the box.
