It's better all round and nobody gets confused. Gay guys don't get giggly and girls don't get disinterested. Why did no-one think of this before?

PS OK, I admit I'm going for a chest wax at the weekend, but it's um, strictly for hygene purposes, errm... I mean so I can swim faster, um...

Respect to any man who goes for a wax... Waxing hurts like hell, so men should experience it at least once (off topic I know >slap on wrist<)

As for manbags, ok, I don't like men walking around with the loop-around-the-wrist-thingy, looks too old and sleezy. But I do notice that many men carry sling across messenger bags of various brands. I think, personally, its perfectly practicle and suits some men actually

Heck, looking Gay is just fine, thank you, (I'll keep you guessing) it's looking like one of those pink-shirted mullet-wearing Victims which is the danger

You're getting your chest waxed? Why, man?

Oh, it only hurts during the first 3 years.... then you get used. I have been doing it for more than 20 years (ouch), and i can barelly notice it now.... Give me another 5 years, and i will be able to take a nap.... [Sorry, Mark ]

Usually that stuff ends up in the girlfriend's purse.... Can you please carry it for me, sweathear, it is too big for my pocket? As we say in Spain, behind a man, there is a woman carrying a too heavy bag.... [Sorry again, Mark, i am a traumatized ex-girlfriend....]

It certainly does. I think the new range of PDA-phones is really pushing us over the edge into needing these bags. Never !

Re: Men and Bags

I've noticed a lot of the blokes i work with swapping wallets for metal clips to keep the pocket-bulge to a minimum. It looks quite flash i reckon, but i can't help thinking it's going too far.

Cheers, Metrosexual Dan.

Re: Men and Bags

money clips are not metrosexual Dan,

you can see some great screen icons in every decade sporting them, and in particularly cool roles.

I would also add that in London, Accessories maketh the man!

Money clips???...really? I have seen them used lots in the US where coins are just not needed but what about here? Do people really carry around enough notes to fill a money clip?.....and what about cards?........

Money clips are for the oestentatious that want to "show" their cash. Often used by market traders (stock and street).
Don't do it.

Yes, Nicky, that's correct. Wrist attachments... ooh, no.

Re: Men and Bags

Its whatever you want it to be: a mini bag with shoulder or wrist strap but if you're looking for Christmas presents for a red-blooded-hetero-male then steer clear and stick to a chest-beating-dispatch-rider or a yes-I-do-sport holdall.

Said friends are indeed my colleagues at the Stock Exchange.

When i say money clip, it's literally a 3-4 inch piece of stainless steel folded over. "Gucci" is stamped on it, followed by a 200 chuff price tag.

You fold your money in half, and wedge that, along with any credit card into the clip. The clip goes into your pocket. The money's on view, but only when you take it out. It's not permanently on view on a belt or anything. The idea is just that it's slimmer than a wallet, thus reducing unsightly trouser bulge.

I use a rather sexy Crumpler bag with more pockets than you can imagine. It has shoulder strap and a cross strap so it can be used as a dispatch rider bag.

The more sombre coloured ones are pretty good with suits, nay fashionable.
In addition I have a couple of Hidesign briefcases in soft leather with tarten lining. Very discrete, feel good and stretch to fit in all those juicy contracts .

I did have a Samsonite hard brief case but it had the cachet of a sales-exec, so I havent used it since.

Halliburton Zero do some that are bombproof, although I don't really want to find out...

Re: Men and Bags

I carry around way too much stuff on a daily basis to fit it all in my pockets, so I use a messenger bag. Book, phone, wallet, lunch, notebook, keys, gum, iPod, etc. I'd rather look like an idiot with a bag than an idiot with bulging pockets.

Re: Men and Bags

Oh yes. Brett Ellis. I've got the book somewhere. I'm not so keen on the episode with the staple gun. The book reads pretty much like a women's fashion magazine as I recall, and states the price, exclusivity and must-have items as though they really matter. Of course thats nothing like we're doing....
