Facebook has introduced a "couples" function

I really detest Facebook, I have closed (Well I can't do that so it is suspended) my account.

However I know it is extremely popular, and it has just launched a new function that might interest or annoy you....

http://uk.news.yahoo.com/facebook-creates--creepy--couples-page-for-all-users---without-warning.html

"Starting today, we're introducing a new layout for friendship pages," the post said last week.

"Friendship pages combine posts, photos and events that you and another person have shared.
Click the gear menu at the top of a friend's timeline to see a friendship page.

"If you've listed yourself as "in a relationship" with someone, you can also visit to see the friendship page you share with that person."

Re: Facebook has introduced a "couples" function

I guess for me it's not overly creepy - maybe because I know each of my FB friends personally. Unlike a lot of folks, I don't have a policy of adding FB friends as though I am collecting stamps. I add people that add value to my life or have added value in the past, and that I genuinely want to keep in touch with.

Honestly, as an expat it's the most practical way for me to communicate regularly with important people back home. What I dislike most is FB's policy of rolling out mandatory changes in secret and waiting to see if someone notices.

It is kind of strange to see all the data aggregated in such a way. Makes you realize how much information is being collected and compiled every second, and how it can be manipulated for so many purposes.

Re: Facebook has introduced a "couples" function

I think a similar feature has existed in the UK previously. When a friend of mine broke up with her boyfriend and looked at this feature, guess who appeared under 'People you might like to date':- her ex!

If it's not a personal question, was that because no one wanted to be your "friend"?

Or go to the profile of one of your friends. On the down arrow with the gear shift symbol, you can select to view friendship. It's more than just couples in a relationship that you can view.
