Snow's arrived - is that good or bad for you, and why?

Moi - I love snow- as long as it is crisp and fluffy and cold. With a blue brilliant sunny sky. I just love to walk in it, snowshoe, ski, cross-country ski, snowboard, sledge, bum board, tubing - snowmen and snow fights.

Hurrah for winter

Well, when it arrivse in that sort of state I shall be happy. Walked outside today (in la Chaux-de-Fonds) and it's was horrific. Eurgh.

This is really good news now my new ski shoes can be tried out on my already serviced skis.

Bring on the snow

I love playing in white snow.

I hate digging my car out of the black urban stuff.

Since I spend most of my time in the mountains of New Hampshire (about a mile, as the crow flies, from the boundary of the White Mountain National Forest) I love winter.

I love the sight of snow but I am a bit afraid of driving when it has snowed heavily

I much prefer summer - boats, water, long cycle ride, walks in the hills and mountains.

However, yippee, skiing begins again this Saturday for me :-) I'm looking forward to Englelberg for the next few months exactly for your reasons - crisp, fluffy white, with brilliant blue skies.

I like it - so long as I can stay indoors in a nice warm house with plenty of food to eat and a good book to read. Watching it fall outside while I'm nice and cosy inside - lovely.

Re: Snow's arrived - is that good or bad for you, and why?

Much like swimming in a cool lake or eating an ice cream in the summer, I always seem to love the contrasts that come with winter. Looking forward to roasting next to the fire with a hot chocolate or mulled wine, snuggling under the covers on a cold night or, one of my favorites, an outdoor hot tub with a glass of vino after a long day of riding. Ohh, some heavenly moments to come. BRING ON THE WHITE STUFF!

(Besides everything that you mentioned already, that is, Odile. )

I love the crunchy sound of walking over snow, how the light reflects at night and how quite it is during a good snow fall. It's just magical.

Then I love blazing down the mountain at Mach 10 screaming with pure adrenaline ecstasy.

Me too, I'd rather have -3 with a clear sunny sky than +2 and clouds...

Waking up to snow made me so happy!

I'm from Minnesota, so the lack of snow was making me homesick. It's not truly winter/Advent/Christmas until you have snow.

Had all the trees trimmed and snow tires are on the car.

Snow is great as long as they don't salt the paths, this is really hard om the dogs' paws.

Re: Snow's arrived - is that good or bad for you, and why?

Snow is in general bad for me. As anybody who has to walk some distance daily along untreated paths knows, it is at best awkward, and at it's worst damned dangerous when the snow has turned to sheet ice.

Nope, I'm no fan of snow.

Well I'm a snowman, so I'm really in my element again. It's been a long year, people think I'm incontinent always leaving a pool behind me. But not any longer! Today, my hat is on and my carrot erect and ready for lots of snowgals .....

Normally ok with it, but I have yet to change my tyres. Booked in for tomorrow, when more snow is forecast. Will be an interesting drive to Bern in the morning .

Re: Snow's arrived - is that good or bad for you, and why?

Just had the bill for changing our wheels 28CHF, now that's what I call good value (especially on the Discovery) .

Lots more snow overnight - and when the sun comes out tomorrow it will be magical

Indeedy!

There is a world of difference between frolicking in gorgeous, virgin snow under a heavenly blue sky and battling through black slush, or icy paths in an attempt to get to work (or anywhere)
