Currently wearing a Tissot, similar to this one. Pretty sizable knob on the side to keep the watch watertight. Gets in the way now and again...
Well, my knob is bigger than yours and it doesn't get in the way. Is the bracelet strapped too tight?

Its comfortable. I had the saleslady remove a few links when I bought it. I don't like my watches tight, but I also don't like it if they can spin all they way around my wrist.

I almost bought me the silver version.

However, I like the Seiko Grand Seiko, which is simple and timeless in design but kicks pretty much anything out-there in terms of accuracy.

Could be....

Now I'm looking up replica Urwerks, and I'm only finding some questionable guy in China to whom I'm not eager to give my CC details...

One of my favorites..

Re: Let's rap: What's your favorite watch?

Here's a pretty cool watch that a friend of mine (an Astrophysicist) was/is the spokesperson for, here in CH:

"The Portuguese Sidérale Scafusia is the first watch from IWC to feature a patented constant-force tourbillon together with many other complications and individually calculated astronomical displays. Every watch is made on special request and will be unmistakably unique."

I guess it even includes a customized celestial chart.

Seems I remember my friend telling me this is the most expensive watch in existence, since they're all custom-made. But who knows...

Probably wouldn't be hard to find out, as they're made just around the corner in Schaffhausen. But I thought that crown went to some atrocity crusted over with gaudy stones?

Re: Let's rap: What's your favorite watch?

there is a one of a kind watch which had an offer in the double digit millions, but the watch-maker has so far refused to sell it.

EDIT: actually, scrub that - it is a 2 of a kind watch, the original couldn't be found, and they made a replica which received the XXm offer

That's true. I'm sure there are some much more expensive watches out there that are covered in nasty bling.

it's the most complex one that IWC makes and could well be the most expensive one too as it will set you back a cool 750'000 CHFs (please mr santa, i've been a good boy this year...)

Re: Let's rap: What's your favorite watch?

IMO, watches tell you a lot about the person wearing them, even more so than clothes, I find. This being said, I don't buy into the hype of some of these overpriced time pieces, as they're simply a status symbol and if it wouldn't be for the exorbitant price tag, none of these conservative old money-old farts or nouveau rich Porsche driving banker types would never consider some of these extraordinary design malfunctions VacheronPatekWCHeuer-whatnots produce on a yearly basis.

Yeah. Isn't that the case with almost anything at this price level. You're buying uber-expensive jewelry and/or art (some of these watches exhibit a level of workmanship that can only be called art) and these brands position themselves on the mystique that surrounds their names.
Since the advent of affordable computing, most of the precision workmanship can be replicated by CAD/CAM software, and quartz watches are more precise than the most complicated, tourbillon-based mechanical watch (for a fraction of a fraction of the cost). Nowadays we have solar and kinetic watches that never need winding, or battery changes.

I'll probably never be able to afford that Urwerk in the OP, but all pretentious knobs and tools aside, and price aside as well, I enjoy that I have the opportunity to have come into contact with such luxurious watches. In some ways, to me, its like walking into an art museum; sure they're not necessary for survival, but they do add something to the richness of the experience.

Oh I do so not agree !
It's about the beauty of intricate sophisticated minute mechanisms created to keep time.. the only element that man can not stop, and thus decides to measure.

Watch an artist at work and perhaps you'll understand the fascination.

Agree with the first part that a watch speaks about the wearer, just as any choice of clothes or jewelry. Also agree with you, that at this level, this is art and sophistication, and the "telling time" part is less important than "how" it tells time.
