I've seen babies at a bris not really bothered by it all, so I assume there is some truth to it being less painful. Like little boys sure don't have the same feeling in their bollocks as grown men do.

There are men who are trying to "regrow" foreskin, it's an interesting debate sometimes in the mothering groups, esp when the ones with the strongest view are in deed women, even more when they argue against it for hours on end but have never seen an intact penis in their lives
That's because the babies go into shock. They have the same amount of nerve endings in the foreskin as an adult, and it hurts. Doing it with no anesthesia is simply barbaric.

While you seem to discount the opinions of women on this issue, I think it's great when women and mothers decide to let their sons choose for themselves and are vehemently against routine and cosmetic circumcision, despite the fact that I'm a circumcised man. Regrowing a foreskin is a little extreme for my tastes, but I just wish I had a choice in the matter and I don't like seeing the pretty big scar that's there. I don't think most men even realize that it is a scar, I didn't know for a long time that it wasn't supposed to be there.

Won't put lots of links here- but if anyone is interested they can always google 'is circumcision in an infant painless' (during and after!) - your choice. I'll stick to what I said, and leave you to it (and yes I do have 'second-hand' experience- I take it you are not a surgeon either).

Ugh this makes me sad. Our childrens' bodies are not our property. Disagree with non-medical genital modification of children so strongly. Don't know how anyone can not see how wrong it is

Re: Circumcision in Switzerland [info ONLY please]

I must admit, most of my lovers in my twenties were circumcised. And most were Westerners. American or Swiss. (three actually!! throughout my twenties, i'm not a slag!!)

My nephew had to be circumcised at the age of ten, because of foreskin problems. I had a friend who had to be circumcised at the age of 30, both remember it. Painful memories.

No man i know has had any psycological problems of having been circumcised as a baby. Quite the opposite. They seem to enjoy their "smoothness"!! And think to have a foreskin would be unhygenic. Which is wrong, obviously.

You cannot put male circumcision into the same basket as female circumcision, never. And anyone who does, is just stupid.

Up to the parents, i say. Like piercing a babies ears.

I know a woman who had to have her breasts removed due to problems.

Perhaps all girls ought to do that when they have reached puberty - just in case?

I'm not sure what your point is here?

Is it: Some people have to have a surgical procedure on part of their body so it's okay to do it on people who don't need it?

Doest hat mean that you are circumcised and have no idea of how much it affects the male pleasure? Genuine question, no irony.

I had to have my wisdom teeth removed at 20, and it was painful. Should I have my 2 year old sons wisdom teeth removed now so he doesn't remember it?

Pain is pain, even if we don't remember it later in life. It has lasting effects. Babies feel pain just like we do. I can't believe people who are presumably parents need this explained to them.

Ok, I assumed they were sitting down there waiting to pop out like the rest of the teeth.

Let's use an appendix as an example then.

*** Devil's advocate to the rescue! We don't want this to die down just yet! ***

Because both are painful and the child has no choice in the matter. Though it's obvious that one is a lot more painful than the other.

Whereas FGM is not only painful, but completely disfigures and cuts off major parts of female genitalia, as far as I understand it.

There are many types of FGM, the minor ones are absolutely comparable to male circumcision. And who's to say a circumcised penis isn't disfigured? A lifelong, visible scar and little resemblance to a normal penis seems to indicate disfigurement...and a foreskin can be considered as major a part of genitalia as a labia, no?

It depends; it can range from the removal of a piece of the clitoral hood (analogous to circumcision, I suppose), to removal of the entire external genitalia and sewing up the vaginal opening, leaving only a small hole for urine and menstrual blood.

In my religion, all babies need to have Vulcan ears and a YOLO tattoo.
Anyone knows a doctor that can do that?

That's a good plan! Vulcan ears totally look better and they're more hygenic and stuff. All the women I've slept with have vulcan ears so I'm kind of an expert. Plus, if they want to get a YOLO tattoo when they're 40, they'll already have one! Plus babies don't feel tattoos so yay!

Labia doesn't have the sensitivity of the clitoris nor the g spot. The labia is most of the time cut off and sewed together to close the opening of the vagina to make sure the woman stay virgin. Each intercourse will break the skin, privoke intense bleeding and pain. A circumsised penis looks exactly the same when the skin is pulled away.

**********************************************

And let me at least put my piece about scars. First of all, scars ain't no big deal. Where ever you have them, a scar is a scar and not the end of the world. I'm sure the scar on your penis isn't putting off any woman.

I have an episiotomy from the vagina to the side of the rectum (5 cm). I have a c-section scar (12cm), one in the lower back (5cm), one on my foot (4cm) and one on my shoulder (20cm!!!!).

Never stopped me getting laid.
