Hurrah- at last (tw*t)- and hurrah again
You don't really need to omit the letter 'a' from the word 'twat' - it's not offensive, but obvious, and even confusing - in case you actually meant 'twit' .... or even worse - 'twot'.

Re: Top Gear: 2013

I don't know why Mr Clarkson excites such strong opinions. I mean, I'm not particularly fond of the chap - he's just a mildly irritating television presenter like any other - but I've got one of these:

Don't all televisions come with these nowadays?

No good if the OH has got it though, or my sil, or my bil ....

I once swapped the 'i' for the 'a' - and my students at the time told me it was rude .. lol. It was in the 80s though, so times have perhaps changed a bit!

Yeah, same problem here. Because I'm home all day I get the tv button box during the weekdays and the OH gets it in the evenings/weekends.

But none of them are actually forcing you to watch him are they? Really?
If they choose to watch something that amuses them for one hour a week then let them is my philosophy. Personally I find other interesting things to do whilst my two boys watch.

What! And ruin his recording of the programme! More than my life's worth. Besides I don't have a phone.

Oh, I do. But then he sometimes moans that he never sees me in the evening because I'm always on my computer - because I refuse to watch the rubbish programmes he likes. Even worse at the moment because I have no new books to read either.

Re: Top Gear: 2013

Apparently, the remaining episodes of Top Gear have been pulled.

There are claims that Clarkson punched the producer

Doesn't Clarkson own the rights?

I can't see him being greatly bothered if the BBC don't let him present it. It'll be them losing money.

Indeed. Top gear is one of the BBC's biggest programs.

Re: Top Gear: 2013

Have you seen the quality of people queueing up to take over the programme? I find it fascinating that every week the programme layout, the jokes, the snide remarks and everything else have not changed much in 10 years! "Never change a running system", but this is supposed to be entertainment, don't other people get bored with this programme? I do.

Meanwhile Fleet Street is having a punning time, http://www.bbc.com/news/blogs-the-papers-31827453

It generally has the same meaning as c*nt, and is considered in many places to be a very rude word. Certainly on some UK forums I'm on, it'll get you a temporary ban.

I think both the decision to suspend him and to drop the remaining episodes tarnishes the BBC's reputation far more than anything that pillock might do.

No, the Beeb bought them off him in 2012.

With any luck we'll lose the entire lot.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/cele...schedules.html

No idea where they get the "factual programme" from. It's been pure fantasy for years now. Staged and sometimes dangerous incidents (remember Hammond's near fatal crash) with no bearing on reality/facts at all.

If he did throw a punch then that should be him finished. Nothing can justify that. Idiot fans of his have started a petiiton to have him reinstated, but really if this is true the Beeb have no option other than to fire him. If they don't after the warning they gave him last year then they may as well roll over and let them do what they want because they'll have no credibility if he's not fired. They'll just have to keep grovelling/apologising for any future gaffes and suck it up.

Re: Top Gear: 2013

Well, Clarkson is a prize wazzock, it's true. But I still feel a sneaking pride at the bizarre popularity of that blokeish wazzockness around the globe. TG is even broadcast in Iran, warts and all. I reckon the programme does more for British international relations than all the droves of cosseted chinless Ruperts in the FCO.

The Top Gear format has changed many times since it started in 1977 with Angela Rippon presenting.

I used to watch it when they actually reviewed cars that people would buy with Quentin Wilson et al. Actually that was the last time I watched it.

I watched it in Quetta in Pakistan once.

The biggest exports that the BBC have normally have no sexual element and very few women.
Mr Bean's popular in Iran too.

The number of people delighted by this news is a wonderful illustration of everything that is wrong with modern Britain. He expresses his libertarian/right wing opinions which are taboo but his far greater crime to many is that he's very very successful.

Nevermind that he makes millions for the BBC, and that his TV show is the most watched factual show in the world. He's intelligent, good at his job and extremely wealthy, which to many means we should never have to see or hear from him again.

Ever checked out the audience directly behind the presenters? OK, less so for the last couple of series as people did notice....
