Jan 21 the saddest day of the year?

If you got out of bed feeling grumpy this morning you are in good company. According to the UK press, today is the most depressing day of the year in the UK. Nothing to do with it being a Monday. Something to do with the arrival of credit card bills after the seasonal spending spree, the failure of New Year's resolutions and the fact that it hasn't stopped raining there since Xmas. Oh and half the country has been down with a nasty stomach bug. Need anymore reasons to quit the UK for Switzerland?

Re: Jan 21 the saddest day of the year?

Sad ? Not me.

Here we have had a wonderfully sunny weekend, it is cold but nice and I've been on parties and dancing with beautiful ladies the week long.

As about New Year resolutions, I don't do any. I just face the life with a smile and expect and work for the best but am happy and greateful with what I get.

And as I ruled out the senseless shopping sprees, I don't have to worry about my credit card invoices anymore.

It's probably depressing in England because it's usually around this time that England's cricket tour of the southern hempsiphere ends - but that hasn't even started yet. Odd.

Sounds like the UK press have founf no news to report today. It's time they introduced a carneval (i.e. Fasnacht) in Britain. It would be the ideal remedy for a country without snow.

I don't think my countrymen need any encouragement to get shitfaced & fall around the streets ... is an average Thursday/Friday/Saturday event ....

Well said Polorise. I don't love living in Switzerland, but would prefer it to the UK I think. I've just dropped some friends off at the aiport to fly back to Manchester and they both commented on how clean, fragrent and quiet it is here (I suppose anything would look better than Wigan).
I don't quite understand how you can quantify sadness - maybe that makes me a sad person

You need to sell all your shares to pay for that credit card bill.....

Seriously?

Nice.... but an iPhone is surely the way to go!

Thought you had a free iPod coming on a slowboat from China.

I saw a girl with one on the train , turning it around and around like one of the apes making a discovery in the film 2001. She was ugly enough to complete the convincing image.

May I take this opportunity to wish a (completely off-topic) Happy Birthday to all those posters who have been celebrating today and yesterday.

Zum Geburtstag viel Gluck... (oh, never mind...)
