Re: CH passport test

Is it really so complicated now?

All I had to do was translate (De) and pronounce correctly just two things:

1) a small kitchen cupboard

2) a small pocket watch

Is this seriously all you had to do? What kind of text did you have to translate? Verbal or written? Also, do you know where I can get more information about this test? Does it depend on the canton?

Thank you!

Re: CH passport test

For our Swiss citizenship interview with the Gemeinde, they did not ask any questions on the Kanton or Bund level.

They were mainly concerned with how well we were integrated in the Gemeinde...which Vereins we belonged to, how well we understood (not spoke) Swiss German.

Our two small children were with us. They smiled and asked them one question each.."What is your favorite place in the Gemeinde".

When they answered in flawless Swiss-German..."Die Badi" (public swimming pool) and "Bibliothek" (the local library), it was a done deal.

From the Röstigraben article in the French Wikipedia:
Quote:
Le Röstigraben (littéralement « fossé de rösti » ; traduit barrière de rösti ou rideau de rösti), est une expression d'origine suisse allemande ...
No idea how authoritative it is

I prefer outre Sarine, a French expression. In the Valais it becomes outre Raspille, since that river is the Valaisan linguistic frontier.
