Hand Washing after going to the toilet

Recently there was a report by the CDC about the concern of drug resistant bacteria. Yesterday there was report on the BBC about a problem of tablets and phones where they need to be wiped clean. One of the reasons for this was people do not wash their hands especially after going to the bathroom. I am a male so I know that many men do not wash their hands after going to the bathroom. Then they grab the door handle to pull open the door. It really is disgusting. What can we do about it.

I see this all the time, even after (I kid you not) guys have been for a crap. Absolutely disgusting, but realistically there is nothing you can do about someone who doesn't care about that kind of stuff.

So who's pissing all over their hands?

Carry a small cotton glove or cloth for opening doors.

One of the frustrating things is the architects that design bathrooms. Doors are always push in and pull to leave.Should be the other way around.

The new design I've seen creeping in is the sort of off-set walls where you don't have a door at all.

I see most people washing their hands after using the toilet but maybe it's different in the ladies' loos.

Having said all that, I think we're all too clean these days anyway, which doesn't help us build up our natural resistance to nasties. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger. Or something.

Then they offer to bring you a cappuccino and a cake. That is disgusting and you can do nothing but graciously refuse.

Seriously, it is well known that many of them dont wash their hands after going to toilet, any explanations for that, from a male's perpective?

Mind you, I am not particularly fond of ladies who compulsive-obsessively are washing their hands 3-4 times after going to toilet. If you do it well, one time should be enough.

It is different. So I was told.
I would like to think most men do wash their hands, particularly if coming from a cubicle suggesting numero 2 was done.

The urinal stop is a different game all together and the process varies for different men I guess. I mean I can certainly pull out, do my business, put back without touching my member or pissing on myself so my hand(s) are no dirtier than when I came in the loo. I still wash my hands though, most of the time.

Re: Hand Washing after going to the toilet

I'm curious - as a male who washes his hands, I'd like to see some proof that women wash hands more frequently than men after going to the toilet.

When leaving toilets, I generally use a tissue to open doors, avoid handles where possible, use feet to prop doors open when other people come and go. Using the handle is a last resort and if I have to, I'll wash or sterilise my hands after leaving the toilet (with a handy little bottle I keep in my pocket).

Oh, I'd also like to add, that several women I've spoken to have told me they find men's toilets more hygienic than women's. Read what you will into that.

Last weekend some bloody woman skulked around in the sink area of a public loo while my son and I were washing our hands after going to the toilet, waiting for us to leave so we would open the door and she wouldn't have to. I only realised after she scooted out after us through the open door. Cheeky bint.

I personally noticed that women wash their hands, of course there might be exceptions. Proof? None. On the other hand, I heard men admitting that there are other men who dont wash hands.
Btw, that handy little bottle...I thought it was a girl thing. Dont know any other man who is carrying along such a lil' treasure. Good for you.

I'm not that bad. I don't mind taking the responsibility for opening the door if I have to...

Re: Hand Washing after going to the toilet

I suppose if those that do not wash their hands could actually see the bacteria and germs, they would change their rather appalling habits.

Ever thought of the state of your hands are after shaking hands with several people and not knowing to which category they belong - washers or no washers which is why I try to wash my hands as soon after a business meeting or meeting involving lost of handshakes as often as possible.

Your hands may not be any dirtier than they were before (which isn't saying much, as if you haven't washed them in a while they can still be dirty), but your boxers will be. There is no way to magically shake your lil' chap, non-handed, and be able to shake off/out all of the drips. In fact, unless you are purposefully planning not to wash your hands then I fail to see why you would do that at all. Surely it's just easier to use your hands and then wash them?

Re: Hand Washing after going to the toilet

We are all getting in a tizz about not washing after number ones and twos but it looks like we would be better off washing our hands after using a computer keyboard.

At least a toilet seat gets cleaned a couple of times a day in a public toilet. How many people clean and disinfect their keyboards more than once a... well, ever?
