HAT is the spinning-top of the posting world - one of those sparky ones. We're not trying, for example, to censor him - more to nuture him into adding value with a great proportion of his posts (and I'm one to talk there ).
"You can choose any colors you like for your Ford, provided it is in Black."

So, what is adding value? Saying something that YOU like to hear, or think it is valuable? I say what I think is the answer from my perspective. I also included some examples, which can be offtopic and also lead to another thread discussion. What's the problem?

So the main thing in this forum is this:

Someone asks: How do you do this and this and this in Switzerland?
I should answer: You do 1,2,3 and then 4. (period)

I must not include: By the way, your question leads me to think that my neighbour is shit. Did you see my neighbour's giant satellite dish?

So, you see, I get the picture of how to operate in this forum now.

But....wait a minute, this thread, I am free to post what I like. So no one can tell me I am wrong...

HAT, you're a great fan of www.englishforum.ch/off-topic - that's fine.

Like you say, this thread is your thread - go for it....but if the thread is not in this area, try a little to stay on-topic.

That's all that has been asked of you, however you have choosen to interpret it.

Does your neighbour really have a huge dish? Then surely you can have one....but that then surely belongs on-topic on your thread here? I'm honestly hoping it's true so that you too can install a dish

Why oh why do you make statements like that? What made you believe that I am a great fan of this thread?

There you go again, can you please stop reminding me?
You still don't get it?
You higher being, me lower being?
You teacher, I student?

Can you please stop mothering me?
I ALREADY GOT YOUR MESSAGE!

It is exactly THIS ATTITUDE, in many other posts, not just directed at me, that I suspect you and Mark are exercising unnecessary mothering to other users.
Do you receive my signal?

HAT,
I'm all in favour of you voicing your opinion, but I think you'll lose some support or even sympathy if you keep following this aggressive approach.

HAT,

You're sounding like one of those argumentative voice-breaking ball-dropping 13 year old l33t h4x0rz 0wn3r on-line Quake players with zits and a serious inferiority complex.

You're cluttering up my RSS feed.

No-one is stifling you, or trying to put you down, or prove anything.

Do you behave the same way in real life?

FFS, indeed

this is where and how I feel wronged, dave.

I came back online, with no intention to again be aggressive.
However Lob, in other posts in another thread, keep trying to convince me, that I was treated fairly and that I must acknowledge that.

I have another opinion on that decision. I wish not to even talk about it.

And then he came to this thread again, and tell me again to "stay on topic"...

Now, even with a sane person, this can become a catalyst for insanity and outbursts.
Bear with me, thanks.

I want to and will believe that italics words.
However, please also understand that I am also trying to be civil and polite and constructive too. Even if you don't think so.

Your ending words in bold, again tell me, that you think otherwise of me. And this stupid evil cycle continues. Can we please just stop?

A new topic please....

Well this thread was intended for me to start writing some topics witha a blogging style, I was told.

Let me start a new thread then:

How does one find a nice house for his family?
1. Location?
2. Price of rent / purchase
3. Neighbours
4. Nearness to schools
5. Nearness to COOP or Migros / Marketing
6. Nearness to POST bus or train SBB?

I found one VERY cheap rowhouse (10 yrs old) for 1700chf (excl. NB). But the thing is: it is too damm noisy, next to the road connecting CH to DE (Waldshut).
5.5 rooms and with small garden.

What do I do?

Re: How has Englishforum helped you?

I am in the middle of the Rehab program for being an asshole in the forum.
I will seek to add value to all the posts I make here.
I will not argue with the mods or admins.
I will not abuse them or criticise them in any way.
I will stay on topic.

Thanks to this forum, I am able to recognise the Dr Jackyl in me, and seek professional help here in time.
Thanks be to God.

Re: A chat with HAT. Life the universe and everything...

When I write about myself, I am giving credibility to the things I am typing. It is my truth.

When I write about others' experience, I expose myself to being wrong, due to the wrong information passed to me. I am sharing.

When I give facts, some are also pissed off because they find fishbone in an egg (find fault).

When I give half facts (usually in the form of a question), they are also pissed because they say I mislead the readers and give chaos to the forum library of facts.

When I complain, I am a whiner.

How to win over these guys?
Shut up and pack up?

My oh my...I really don't know.

PS: This is my special thread, I can post my mindless rants here, right?
Or am I gonna get banned again for some obscure mini-print?

Re: A chat with HAT. Life the universe and everything...

I am missing something here.

Why was this 6-year-old thread resurrected? When it appeared I presumed it was going to 'reveal all' about HAT's appalling past -- but no, he/she seemed pretty reasonable back then just like he does now.

Move on, people, It's pointless.

This is old hat.
