Re: Tesla Model S

Have to do an amusing mini-update...

Went for lunch with my work colleagues and had to parallel park into a tight space. Half way through messing it up myself, the car "suggested" i go back to the start position and let it do it

I did, and it did a perfect park first time, and went some way towards saving my dignity with my colleagues, one of whom was videoing the whole thing!

Embarrassing when your car drives itself better than you do yourself!

Yeah good idea. Especially if he includes the bit when he attempts it himself first!

Re: Tesla Model S

I'm trying to get my colleague to send it to me, but he says he needs to edit the audio out first, as they were being scathing of my first attempt to park

I am a guy, honest, just a mostly awful driver, hence why I bought a car that does most of it for me!

Now that the Model X is beginning to hit the streets, curious if any new EF owners of the Model S has any dealer info regarding when Suisse might expect these beauties

Re: Tesla Model S

Arguably the most important car Tesla will ever make; The mass market Model 3 has just been unveiled.
Musk's stepwise strategy for introducing electric cars to the masses has been spot on

Looks like it has been penned by Citroen.

Without firm prices it is hard to know where it sits - or what its fossil rivals will be

Re: Tesla Model S

I like the look of the car, and I think Tesla will have great succes with it. I still havent tried one, so can talk much about the driving experience, but I assume its fast, but maybe slightly boring due to a very linear power delivery? just think it would still take some time before im prepared to let go of the good old combustion engine.

Re: Tesla Model S

Shame the Tesla designers didn't grab the opportunity to do something really adventurous. Here's a chance to be quite out-there; a car with no engine up front and no need for air intakes or any air cooling, and what do they come up with? A car with two pairs of doors on the sides, a hatch, a (pretty ugly) nose with a bonnet/hood... basically, a car. Like every other car. Big feature: it has a panorama roof. This is not new.

To a certain extent crash testing results in some design features - in particular pedestrian safety and wheel intrusion. After that and "brand" will be looking to maintain/evolve their own design language to give the brand presence on the road and draw new customers. 3 follows on from S and X in that way - no one is going to order the models with 3 in the middle now would they - especially using its logo

The 2+3 seating layout is hard to beat within the confines of existing infrastructure.

To be fair, Musk did say that there would be changes made up until production in late 2017. I am sure once all the industry and user feedback is taken into consideration it will be slightly different to the unveiled prototype. It is pretty ugly from the front, but what exites me is how Tesla is pushing the technology forward (and with that will hopefully come charging bays in my company car park )

3+3 seating beats 2+3... (Fluffy dice are sorely missed, too!)
