Re: Morocco Visa - Any idea

I went again to the embassy again on Wednesday and I finally got my visa done (a sigh of relief!), after waiting for one and a half months and getting accused by the guy (whom handled my application at first and I really had a bad impression of) that I caused him a lot of trouble! He even slammed the door when he off and said the same to another innocent couple too! I was brought in by a lady to a room to talk to someone and initially he told me that there is really no reply and no matter how long it takes I have to wait. I told him about my urgency and he took a look at my passport and asked me to wait next door. So after 3 hours I eventually got my visa. I'm thankful but seriously shocked by the way the man who told me off, not just me, but everyone who was there at the waiting room saw that and questioned his sudden frustration as well.

Lastly, my word of advice, go 3 months before to be safe!

here is my experience(applied for tourist visa)

19/11 Wednesday- Went to Moroccan embassy in Bern at around 9 AM. They said I have to return back at 1PM.

20/11 Thursday- Around 4 PM I posted my application from Basel.
1) Filled up application
2) 3 Passport Photos
3) Copy of passport
4) Copy of Swiss permit
5) Copy of my travel itinerary

20/11 Friday- They should have received my application in post

26/11 Wednesday- Showed up at embassy again at 1 PM, with the intention to check if everything is ok with my application. Was bit worried after reading post from "lihuitan56" as I already paid everything for my trip starting on Dec 18. Any delay in getting visa would cost me dearly.

They made me wait. After 20 mins they asked for my passport and Swiss permit

And again waiting continued for another 50 mins. I just waited patiently. Did not show any frustration or ask status questions. Just waited reading a novel.

Finally at 2:10 PM a lady came back with my documents and asked me to buy stamps from other room. Bought 24 CHF worth stamps and gave them to the lady. Another wait for 5 more mins, she asked me for 30 CENTS (not sure why) and gave back my passport with visa stamped :-)

So in essence, I received my visa in 4 working days. Good luck guys!

what are the fees for the Moroccan Visa, They told me 100 chf per person

While I can understand your situation you have to see that most European nationals do NOT need a visa for Morocco or Algeria or Tunisia but only valid passport

Re: Morocco Visa - Any idea

I posted the materials to the embassy 4 weeks ago, but still they are telling me that there is no response from Morocco, therefore they can't issue a visa for me.

Hi, just wondering when you finally got your visa? (How long after your application and how long before your journery?)
We handed in all materials more than one month ago, and went to the Embassy last Monday and also today, but the visa is still not ready... We planned to leave this Friday!!! People in the embassy are really not nice and helpful with poor English...
BTW they never answer the phone!!!

Re: Morocco Visa - Any idea

I wish I'd read this section before planning a road trip with my girlfriends in the Moroccan Sahara. The Moroccan Embassy has no details on the internet still and I notice the OP posted 3years ago! Perhaps this is an indication of how little they care. Such a far cry from countries like Vietnam , Cambodia or even Madagascar!! I applied for my tourist visa a week and a half ago ( yes I need one) , was met by a loud talking, foul tempered lady at the counter who spoke no English and I tried to be polite with my basic German and equally rudimentary French but she was stern and quite dismissive. After some prodding and probing I was asked to call back in 12days. I made it clear that my flights and hotels were booked and non refundable but she didn't seem to care.
Since yesterday I've called more than 25times and met with their answer phone where punching in all or any key only results in absolutely NO one picking up the call. Finally I punched in the legalization and passport number key and someone answered. I was promptly passed on to the same lady I'd met during my visit ( I could never forget her tone) . I've now been asked to return ( I live in Zurich) with my permit and be present in person ( when initially she told me anyone could go) and she says 'I'll try to help you'. Honestly, I would've thought Morocco being so popular with tourists they'd have their act together but clearly they have a long way to go. What bothers me is despite so many complaints this sort of attitude is being tolerated by us that too in Switzerland. They have a series of problems as I see it. No online presence, no links to documents required, ( I had to get the list from the embassy's US page) , short staffed in the visa office, no other language skills apart from French and Arabic( even the voice mail has only these 2 options) and very rude and dismissive staff. I'm dreading to think if this is a precursor to my trip , that's if I end up going at all. I hope my plans don't fall flat on their face. Arrrggghhhh!!

Re: Morocco Visa - Any idea

Dont ever go there unless its really necessary. Its a total waste of time and no one is bothered at their embassy. I gave up much earlier than you. I see you have tried so hard. Firstly they are expensive, they want to see you in person and there is no limit when you get your passport back.

Re: Morocco Visa - Any idea

For most countries morocco is visa-free, especially for typical tourist sources, that's why visa service sucks, they just don't need it. I guess that if you're not on the list, they don't really want you.

Re: Morocco Visa - Any idea

Thank you for your inputs. I've actually just returned from 2 absolutely amazing weeks in Morocco. What a dampener the embassy experience was BUT what a magical surprise Morocco was! Turned all expectations on their head - I got lucky by bumping into the Counsellor when I went back to the embassy. He took my passport, was gone for 10mins while we waited, came back and told us he'd made some calls and stamped the visa there & then and that we were now his responsibility. Due to the recent terrorism threats and dreaded Diash activities any visas being issued would need approval from Morocco directly and could take possibly 25 days or longer. He told us a month would be the earliest people could expect. So all in all I'd say I got lucky!
My only advice to those who DO need a visa- book everything in advance, keep minimum month and a half for your visa approval and cross your fingers. Xx
Cheers!

Re: Morocco Visa - Any idea

I have also the "privilage" to have to apply for a moroccon visa.
Can somebody here tell me what are the documents I have to submit for the visa application?
And by chance, does anybody have a blank visa application form? Do I have to go to the embassy in person to submit the application and to get my passport back, can any of this not handled by post?

The moroccon embassy does not pick up the phone and the consulate in Zurich wants to help me with a todo list but somehow his email never arrives in my inbox.

Here is the link to the PDF document (in FR) that you need to fill out.

Re: Morocco Visa - Any idea

Hello Sansar,
The fee is about 22Chf for a tourist visa. Minimum wait is about 5-8weeks to be safe. They need to see the usual, Swiss permit, return tickets, hotel reservations, sufficient funds , health insurance. Knowing French or Arabic will help in communicating with the embassy staff , take a friend along 😊, you are required to go in person and from experience the best would be to go back to collect the passport too. I wouldn't trust them to mail anything. The big problem at the time of collection is just that they don't give you any fixed date & never pick up calls. So go figure!!!! Wish you good luck x Morocco is beyond stunning in every way if that's any consolation. 😀

Re: Morocco Visa - Any idea

Has anyone applied for a Moroccan tourist visa recently? Just want to get an idea of more recent visa processing times. The lady at the Embassy wasn't willing to give any indication of how long it might take.

Hello, Did you get any information? I am also trying to get the same details. I tried to call them; but no one picked the phone. So I am going there tomorrow. I don't even know what time the councilor service accepts the VISA application. Someone said it is between 13:00 to 14:00.
Is that still the case as that information was from somewhere 2014. Driving 100 kilometers one way without any information. Wow. As if I have nothing else to do.
If anyone has any information please let me know. Otherwise I will let you know how it goes for me.

Re: Morocco Visa - Any idea

Hi Avisekh,

The consular section at the Embassy in Bern is opened from Monday - Friday from 9:00 - 15:00. One does not need an appointment and can walk in to drop off the application form and documents. I had emailed sifamaberne2@bluewin.ch regarding the visa application process and did receive a response from them - you could try as well. But I haven't had any luck with getting an idea of the visa processing time as yet, it's been 2 weeks since our application and have not got a response to emails or calls!

Hey,

Thank you for your response. Yeh. I went there today and submitted the documents. They also need a proof of employment which I didn't have. They have asked me to send by email. They said it is at least 4 weeks and I have exactly 4 weeks. If I knew that they don't actually keep the passport with them; I would have give much before. Anyway I have to get the proof of employment from the company and send scanned copy to them via email. Then let's see what happens! They have asked to to contact them via email at the starting of the week of my travel. Figures crossed.

I guess good luck to both of us!

Once I get over this; I will write the process in detail here so that other have an up to data information.

Cheers & Regards,
Avi
