Alcohol delay?

Why is it
Sunday: two beers at lunch, large glass of wine in the bath before bed, stay up to midnight, no problem getting up and functioning on Monday morning (beyond usual)
Tuesday: no alcohol at all (since Sunday) in bed by 10pm and feel like a lorry hit me this morning?

Honestly, I am tireder with a bigger banging head than I've been since New Years Day....

Re: Alcohol delay?

Maybe your non-alcohol fluid intake is low.
Drink plenty of water.

..... and not to forget: 'the grain and the grape don't mix' (too well with some people).

Plenty of herb tea and fizzy water.....
And beer before wine, you'll be fine.

Often quoted, but has anyone any evidence of either of these being true?

I'm pretty sure that it's a simple case of drinking lots of alcohol, which will more often be the case if you switch between different types. Certainly I don't feel any worse when I've had beer, then wine, then more beer, than if I'd had beer alone. As long as water intake is in proportion I can't see how the effects could vary.

I am not sure, but this explanation is kind of entertaining:

Re: Alcohol delay?

It could be plenty of other factors. Dehydration, some time of food which doesn't fare well, etc.

I'm with Sbrinz ... I think you're going down with something. Your alcohol consumption was not excessive and it was over 48 hours ago, with an intervening "healthy" period.

Unless you are alcohol dependent and this is the longest time you've gone for a while without alcohol - highly unlikely - I'd say you're going down with some sort of virus - bad cold with temp or (hope not) full blown flu.

Sorry - but it gives you chance to stock up the medicine cabinet at least .. Hope you feel better soon.

Re: Alcohol delay?

Dammit.. I only just got over a nasty cold last week.

Oh well. That also explains why I've been so thirsty today and yesterday.

Re: Alcohol delay?

So was it the alcohol or the virus? Flu has a grip on most areas,

Re: Alcohol delay?

Well, as it's lasted three days so far, either I've got morning sickness (watch out for the second coming) or a virus. Not 'flu though, my lungs and throat are fine.
Plenty of fluids, sleep and paracetamol (glad I buy the 18p packs in the UK)
