Nice idea! I'd be interested to visit, too -- my cat is a rare breed that originated exactly there.

Re: Where is this place?

Spot on - Impressive! It's Lake Van in Eastern Turkey. The church is typically Armenian, and similar to Georgian churches, also to be found in this part of Turkey.

PS Didn't know about the swimming Van cats - very cute.

Re: Where is this place?

What a stunning cat. I always assumed only certain types of wild cats knew how to swim, but over the years I have realized that a lot of cats will swim if they have to, though they get tire out relatively fast, which puts them at danger of drowning.

Patxi, you are spot on That tile art is called the Chicken's Wedding :O

Yes, Turkish Vans are all-round great cats -- they offer pretty much everything I could ask for in a pet! (Well, it would be nice if mine could go and shed outside, please, but hey....)

All cats can swim -- it's just that most have staff to do that for them.

Re: Where is this place?

Love the expression on the first photo - that classic cat "I'm about to jump in the air / chase my tail / bite your arm off" crazy look.

very true, but aren't we also honored to serve our furry friends

Here is one pic of a cat exploring his/her territory after the storm
