Anyone from Birmingham :)

Hi,

We want to spend 3 days in Stratford Upon Avon. Is it a good idea to stay in Birmingham..? we will be flying into Birmingham, and thought of going to S U A from there.. to get accommodation will be much easier as we aren't going to hire a car...if Birmingham is a better option then which part. I have Googled but have not come up with anything interesting...

Any inputs will be extremely useful...

Thanks

I'm sort of a plastic Brummie who was naturalised after 6 years. Originally from Worcestershire, honestly!!

I have no problems with anyone calling me a brummie I'm proud of my city

Please look here I answered your question (merge please mods!)

Re: Anyone from Birmingham :)

Oh and if you want to drive in Birmingham City Centre a piece of advice...

Just put your foot down, people drive very aggressively away from junctions/islands and you will get abuse/cut up for not moving quickly enough.

IMHO it's worse than the A406 north circular in London for aggression from drivers.

Also it can be quite disorientating in places with tunnels and lots of strangely configured/marked islands with little or no time to adjust for missed turns.

Then again if you're a local it's nothing but fun playing with the tourists, lol

Re: Anyone from Birmingham :)

Given the choice, I'd rather stay in Stratford than Brum. You can easily get the train up to Brum for the day if you really feel the urge to go to Selfridges, but the pubs in Stratford are better (I'm rather partial to the Garrick myself), and it's a nice place to wander round.

There are loads of little guesthouses and B&Bs in Stratford. I wouldn't know where to begin in recommending one, since I always stayed with family or friends, but I'm sure some of them don't smell of boiled cabbage.

Yo'll ave a bostin toim worreva yer do.
