| | Paying for my auction winnings[Ricardo]
Can anyone recommend a quick way to make payment on an item won on ricardo.ch? I've never made a personal payment before so I'm not sure what the options are.
Cheers

Follow the instructions the seller offers. That is usually the safest route.
Payment to a Post account is done at the Post Office using the red payment slip. Painless procedure. If you ask, the Post Office teller at the window will fill out the payment slip with the information you have black on white. Also, keep your receipts.
If it is a pick-up item, then pay cash... not in advance.
Any other questions?

Pay in Switzerland via Post.

This is what I see on the auction completion page: Conditions de paiement: d'avance
Modes de paiement: Versement postal
So does this mean that seller has a post office account or are they asking for some sort of postal order |

Payment in advance to their postal account... Correct.
Usually, they contact you per e-Post within a day or two with the payment instructions. Follow through and receive your package. Simple!

This means the seller has a postal account. So either you fill in a red pay-in slip at the post office or you transfer the money via e-banking. Should be easy enough: all you need is their postal account number and the holder's name and address.
Sometimes on Ricardo, sellers ask you to pay the CHF 1.50 (or similar fee) that the post office charges the recipient of the money, if the buyer has paid with a red pay-in slip at the post office. Don't forget to add this amount to the total if this is the case or you might not get your goods.... This fee is not charged if you transfer via e-banking.
Have I managed to confuse you ? |

The seller has just sent me her payment details: CPP 17-783xxx-x
IBAN: CH05 0900 0000 1778 xxx 0
Are these the paying-in details of a post office account, I thought an IBAN number indicated a bank account??

Last question I swear if I transfer the money via my UBS online account, will it be instant or is it like a UK bank transfer i.e. 5 working days?

If using internet banking (cheaper) then use the IBAN.
Payment within Switzerland is usually within 24-36 hours at their account.

A post account is also identified by IBAN ... This is normal . Actually the postfinance website has an IBAN calculator , where you can enter the post account number and it actually generates the IBAN ... I have done IBAN transactions from my CS account to post account ... Takes 2 days if you make the payment before 10am , 1 day for your bank and 1 day for the post account .
