The return of the X-Files

Good news for lovers of the legendary sci-fi series `The X-Files`.
Fox Entertainment start work shooting a new series this summer.
Original cast and also with Chris Carter, the original series creater.
Definitely looking forward to that.

Re: The return of the X-Files

Wow! Great news!
I was a huge X Files fan, and an added bonus was that David Duchovny was and still is extremely easy on the eye.
Can't wait!

Re: The return of the X-Files

Oh God... X-files was amazing until Season 6 when Chris Carter literally lost the plot and turned what was an epic alien conspiracy story arc involving Mulders sister into a lame duck that completely lost pace and drama.

Consider me highly skeptical (crap pun intended).

When she was on Top Gear, I was pretty shocked to hear her speaking with a distinctly English accent; I thought she had just been putting on a really good accent for The Fall.

Re: The return of the X-Files

Did anyone watch it? I've just caught up with episode 1 and was distinctly underwhelmed. I loved the original series (I'd agree that it lost its way towards the end however, although think Robert Patrick was a welcome addition to the latter series') but this was just a bit... meh. Plus Duchovny looks more like a bloodhound than ever. It felt like it was trying simultaneously to be a reboot, catch-up and continuation. It looked liked they even dusted off the old sets.

Hmm. Shall watch Ep 2 and decide I guess.

Re: The return of the X-Files

I think episode 2 opened up new story lines which will continue through the series. I don't see it as a stand alone episode like the classic Tooms one.

If you didn't get to see it, I recommend the 30min preamble to the new series. Some very interesting points were made in that, such as using drones to kill people. The concept was hinted at in the original series', but now it's real.

Is the 30 mins in addition to episode1? If so I didn't see it. When was it on?

Re: The return of the X-Files

Episode 5 from last night was cool, a new duo of "young Mulder & Scully" made an appearance, really fun. Plus exploding Muslims.

I think they're pacing themselves fairly well, enjoy the new story arch. Shame it's just 6 episodes but it's better than nothing. The Telegraph has an interview up of Gillian Anderson saying if the money's right she'd consider doing another season... Just hope they don't make a film as bad as the last one!

My mum had a huge crush on him. I just wanted to call my second daughter Dana.

Whilst were on it...I thought there was supposed to be a new series of Twin peaks in Summer 2015?

Re: The return of the X-Files

Seen, episode 1, rubbish.
Like everything which happened in previous 9 seasons was due to government manipulation?
Tooms was a government creation maybe? ridiculous-
And Mulder's being convinced that everything before was false?

I want to believe... that it was all for money (that's it resurrecting the serie).

Try episode 3 or 4, it'll restore your faith.

Re: The return of the X-Files

I never missed an episode of X-Files until the 8th season. After that, I just felt that the plots were so watered down.

Me too.
I even had photos of him stuck inside a cupboard door at work

I recorded every episode onto tapes, kept them for years, then chucked them all out when I moved here.
