Weight loss

Uuurah! 148 Kilos on the scales at the gym today, for the first time in a decade the scales didn't go "OL." or "ERR." that's a permanent loss of 86 Kilos in five years, mind over matter and iron willpower, "it's impossible" they said, "you can't do it" they said, "nobody has that kind of willpower" they said…..!
Well in your fat face Adipositas Zentrum Rorschach, Kanton SG

Re: Weight loss

I told them that I could do it by myself, they laughed and explained like one would explain to a child that a permanent weight loss in the dimensions needed would be totally out of the question without a stomach bypass operation or a stomach band.
I have a good mind to send them a before and after picture..

That sounds exhausting! You obviously have great willpower.

Well done on proving 'them' wrong!

Re: Weight loss

Well done. I lost 20 kg over 18 months and kept it off for 2 years now.

It's easy to say, but hard to do:

1) eat less

2) exercise more

Diets don't work, but calories in calories out does...

It's easy to say, but hard to do:

1) eat less and watch what that is

2) exercise more in a way that you can sustain for the long term

Diets don't work, but calories in calories out does...
If you know that eating 2500 a day will keep you at your current weight and 2000 will make you lose, I believe that 2000 of a balanced diet are better than 2000 of mostly crap.

Even if exercise mostly doesn't make you lose weight/gain muscle in the places you'd like immediately, in the long term it's beneficial as long as you do it according to your body's needs.

And hydrate, hydrate, hydrate.

Hello Slammer,

Just wanted to say congratulations on a big achievement. The freediving is especially impressive!

If you wouldn't mind, I would like to know more about the Aqua treck? Could you post a link or some more info. Many thanks.

Best wishes to you

Re: Weight loss

Interesting on the BBC news today:

The results published in Cell Metabolism showed that after six days on each diet, those reducing fat intake lost an average 463g of body fat - 80% more than those cutting down on carbs, whose average loss was 245g.
Dr Hall said there was no "metabolic" reason to chose a low-carb diet.
However, studies suggest that in the real world, where diets are less strictly controlled, people may lose more weight by reducing carbohydrate intake.
Dr Hall told the BBC News website: "If it's easier to stick to one diet than another, and to ideally do it permanently, then you should choose that diet.
"But if a low-fat diet is better for you, then you are not going to be at a metabolic disadvantage."
He is now analysing brain scans of the participants to see how the diets affect how rewarding food is.

Diet claims 'debunked'

Doctors Susan Roberts and Sai Das, from Tufts University, said in a commentary that the debate around diets was a source of "intense controversy".
They said the study had "debunked" many of the claims that low-carbohydrate diets were better, but the long-term impact was still unclear.
They added: "The most important message for now is probably that some carbohydrates are all right, especially the healthy whole-grain low-glycaemic-index index variety."
Prof Susan Jebb, from the University of Oxford, said: "The investigators rightly conclude that the best diet for weight loss is the diet you can stick to.
"All diets 'work' if you stick to an eating plan that cuts calories, whether from fat or carbohydrate, but sticking to a diet is easier said than done, especially given the prolonged time it takes to lose weight."

Re: Weight loss

Congratulation Slammer. Great effort.
Lost 13kg in two month after diabetes was diagnosed.

Changed lifestyle (healthier food, low carb, less fat). Walking almost everyday to work.

This morning Triemli - Uetliberg - Uetlihof. Total 8.3 km and 450m ascending.
Therapy was so successful that I don't need any Insuline anymore.
Life is good!
