Clocks go back Saturday 28th/Sunday 29th October 2017

Just a reminder that you'll need to reset any older clocks this weekend as we reach the end of summertime.

24/25th of what 2015?

Joking aside, it's back to dark winters.
This is such a waste of time (and annoying)!

Oooh, no! Get the curtains drawn, get a good fire burning, snuggle up to the kachelofen with a blanket, a good book and a cup of hot chocolate... Life in Switzerland really comes into its own when the evenings get dark.

Missed a bit out! So busy making sure I wasn't boloxed for not mentioning Saturday I missed out the October part. Corrected it now.

Oh, I don't know - I quite like my little bit of time travel twice a year. Closest I get to being Dr Who.

No need to worry if you have radio-controlled clocks, though.

I still have one bought in the UK, which has to search hourly for the weak signal from Rugby, although most ones bought here, get theirs from Frankfurt.

Always assuming they work correctly of course. We've got one which keeps great time - so long as the radio itself is on. Turn it off and the darn clock gains nearly a minute a day. So we have to switch the radio on again for a few minutes every fortnight to correct it again - in that time it will have gained 10 minutes. Never seen such bad time keeping in my life!

If you have friends/family/business in the USA, remember that here we are switching the clocks on November 1.

What dark winters?

OK, if you live up in Norway they are pretty dark, but not around here.

It's Zurich. They don't see the sun from November to March due to constant fog and cloud. And they all whinge about it being so grey and miserable despite it being within an hour of many of the sunniest and best winter playgrounds in the world.

Some people would be better off hibernating, I reckon.

I haven't seen a cloud in days.

Last fog I saw was last month or so.

Thanks for the heads up. I was in the US last year so completely robbed of my favoritest day of the year.
