Any Slovenians here- help please

Would be grateful if you could tell me how to properly spell the surname which sounds like 'Maritsch' - thanks.

and how on earth do you put the ' on the c? My computer keyboard is great with French and German accents (despite me having a sort of Welsh/South African accent ) - but not Slovenian.

Yes, but you forgot to mention that it's pronounced 'koala' (more or less).

Google "Maric" and "Slovenija", scroll down the results: sooner or later you'll come across an example with the diacritic. Highlight, copy and paste.

Re: Any Slovenians here- help please

In fact, there are two ways how you can spell this:
Marić (soft C, pronounced like cinque in Italian)
Marič ("hard" C, pronounced like Church, or Chile)

those are two different last names, btw. The second variant may be more common in Slovenia, but you will find both.

Depends which part of Italy you're from.

Often, it's more an 'sh' sound than a 'ch' sound.

I actually use either, depending on my mood and whom I'm with.

If you want to be pedantic, it could also be 'h' as in 'Ho-ho-ho'.
Not in this case, as it's a soft 'c'.

The same people that use the 'sh' sound also are the ones that say 'Hoha-Hola' (Coca-Cola for most of the rest of the world).

He said above it was a soft 'c'.

Since we spend a lot of time in Trieste, I'm quite used to it myself.
