Several newspaper reports that Matt LeBlanc wants Chris Evans gone or he's walking.

Heh. That wold be great. Evens being slung out, I mean. Matt is by far the more engaging of the two, and I'm sure he could hold the top spot on his own.

In fact, despite the fact that I loathe CE, I'm finding the new program actually better than the later Clarkson ones. The use of guests like Eddie Jordan, Jensen Button and others for some of the 'test' segments brings a breath of fresh air and a slightly higher degree of believability to it.

Re: New Top Gear picks up where old Top left off..

Ratings for the last show of the series are low, but they've been up against the football of course.

http://www.bbc.com/news/entertainment-arts-36701712

I like this:

Digital Spy said: "Instead of an episode which was about 10% enjoyable like the premiere, they're now up to about 60%."

"When the right people - Matt LeBlanc, Rory Reid, Chris Harris and Sabine Schmitz - are front and centre, there are moments where Top Gear feels like it has found its feet."

Sounds like the sooner Chris is gone, the better.

I only caught a few minutes of it yesterday - but Sabine's "Fat American" jibe at MLB felt natural and those 4 do appear to have chemistry. Harris needs to get back to delivering the videos the internet love him for - without going to shouty - and that means more technical geeky stuff.

Sabine can be a bit clunky sometimes - and MLB is not a great presenter - but he does act his test drives brilliantly - truly likeable.

Trying to replace 3 presenters with such a great chemistry was always going to be a mammoth task - especially with huge ego in charge. Time will tell whether they can decant the good of the new TG from the bad.

Chris Evans pisses off

https://www.theguardian.com/tv-and-r...ter-one-series

That took too long IMO. A mistake right from the outset. Evans is a terrible presenter - I've no idea how he has "made it" as a presenter.

Some say he will invigorate Top Gear and bury the memory of the 3 dimwits
Some say his record of growing audience will earn Top Gear millions more

We simply think he'll last a season.

Goodbye Mr Evans

And on that bombshell. GOOD NIGHT and GOODBYE!

The question is will they stick with his production company for the next series or look for a new one?

Do feel it is a bit easy for him to leave after one season. He should have done more to get it right.

Probably wanted to go with a bit of grace before he was pushed. TG has lost a lot of viewers, and when you look at the main complains, most seem to be about him.

I used to love him in TFIF and DFYT, but Top Gear just didn't seem to be right for him. It'll be interesting to see if he'll be replaced or whether it'll become more of a car magazine program, like Fifth Gear, with the current lot.

New series starts 5th March 2017.

And of the Grand Tour - well I don't think this reviewer enjoyed it much.

Re: New Top Gear picks up where old Top left off..

Sounds like they're back to TG's roots - the car and nothing but the car. With a few jokes thrown in here and there. More of a team feel about the whole thing.

http://www.bbc.com/news/entertainment-arts-39159995

New series starts tonight, 8pm on BBC2.

Re: New Top Gear picks up where old Top left off..

It was much much better than their last effort - but it was episode 1 - and some of the autocue was a little too obvious.

Decent enough trip - nice little sketch (jet wash) - good guest interaction - and a great reasonably priced car.

Good to see a proper Harris video too - my god the K was fast

Fingers crossed that the 3 of them build on a good start

Re: New Top Gear picks up where old Top left off..

I never liked the idea that the whole show should be dominated by the 'special' assignment, and this was very much the case here. There was really very little else - yes, the jetwash bit was amusing, the fast ferrari was in keeping with the show, and the star in a no-longer-reasonably-priced-car was not bad.

But there was nothing else. at all. and it left me feeling very much let down.
