The YouTube poster named this video "Goran Bregović Mahalageasca" but in the comments this is disputed.

Here's another link to the same dance, with an apology.
https://youtu.be/I7IpZtsubpk

The discussion seems to be about the authorship of the [folk origin] music, though, while I'm especially interested, of course, in the dance. If anyone can shed any light on the matter, please do. Thanks.
Whatever it is, I think the choreography is amazing! So playful, strong, varied, making very clever use of a small space. Breathtaking!

Unfortunately very poor video quality with an annoying stage background, but unusual and interesting choreography by Sonya Tayeh: two women (mother and daughter? lovers? sisters?) connecting, disconnecting and struggling to break free.

Yul Brynner (who was, at least partly, of Swiss descent) and Deborah Kerr perform "Shall We Dance"

Gregory Hines was born in 1946, when Sammy Davis Jr was 21.

Here, on 4th February 1990, aged 44, he dances tap dance, solo, to pay Sammy Davis Jr a moving tribute.

When Sammy Davis Jr joined him on stage, this was possibly his last performance.
Sammy Davis Jr, born 1925, was already very ill and died just a few months after this, on 16th May 1990, aged 64, of complications from throat cancer.

Gregory Hines lived until 9th August 2003, when he, too, died of [liver] cancer, aged 57.

Wonderful that, though they are gone, the internet makes still all this available to us, years later.

Re: Let's have a thread for Dance Videos

James Cagney's dance on the stairs, mentioned in post 53 above, was done 7 years after this:

https://youtu.be/wtHvetGnOdM
The stair dance from the film The Little Colonel (1935)
Bill "Bojangles" Robinson (born 1878, died 1949, aged 57 in this film)
Shirley Temple (born 1928, died 2014, aged 7 in this film)

https://youtu.be/fIQJzcldzAw
And here is Bill Robinson, a year before, doing his step dance alone.

Note that in this clever variation of this act, this man manages to rotate the heads of the puppets.
