Thanks for the heads-up, will seriously try to catch that when it's repeated on Sunday as I'll be watching the Interior Design Challenge on BBC 2 at that time.
Lightweights though, going back after only seven years!

All the best people are, so it's possible!

Is the daughter near Ormskirk the one who makes jewelry?

Re: Gossip about British Television Shows, Soaps and Series

They're moving FROM Switzerland so I assume the programme will just be about wherever in the UK they want to move to.

As the spiel contains "... with a list of criteria as long as your arm. Can Kirstie teach them the art of compromise?:" I just know I'll end up shouting obscenities at the TV so I'll pass

OH is obsessed with the area around Stoke on Trent and we've already bought a stopgap house there.
Stoke on Trent is definitely not 'up north' it's 'down south'.

The camera-fodder usually talks a little about why they're moving, plus I might be able to pick up a few tips about the move across from here to there.

I'll be there with you heckling (practically a hobby, drives OH crazy), but I've nothing better to do at the moment!

My uncle and his family lived near Oxford, in a pretty village called Steeple Aston.

Even that's to the north of Oxford!
Very pretty though, that whole area is. I used to spend a lot of my spare time in Woodstock during far-distant college days.

Re: Gossip about British Television Shows, Soaps and Series

Hmmm, the latest spoiler claims that the biiiig bang on the Square will be a Bus driving into the market....as much as I love 'my' soap, I think it is tasteless, even if the bus driver would've a heart attack or some such 'innocent' thing to cause the accident.

With the brainless7brainwashed twats doing this for real with Lorries all around the globe, this is too close to reality for me and frankly respectless towards the real life victims of recent attacks done in this manner.

I am quite miffed and upset if this storyline will be true, I don't even care anymore if my favourite enemy aka Aunt Babe will meet her maker.

Off my sopabox now!!

Re: Gossip about British Television Shows, Soaps and Series

New series Call the Midwife started yesterday, and what better way to end a good day had with family, than peacefully sipping a last glass of wine and watch Cliff Parisi

However that new Mother Superior is getting on my wick and I am looking froward to the, most certainly, grand moment when they will oust her in some way or other!

Perhaps they think they're simply being 'topical'?
And since when has a bus ever been anywhere near the market.... it stops opposite the Tube entrance I think, which is 'round the corner. A delivery or dustbin lorry would make slightly more sense, but I wholeheartedly agree with you that it's very poor taste given what's been going on recently.

I've been delighted to discover Class (Dr Who spin-off on BBC3 that was originally online only) being shown late on Mondays, Poldark is due to start again soon, and yes, Call the Midwife is indeed back!!!

Re: Gossip about British Television Shows, Soaps and Series

I always get hung up on factual details and there is hardly an episode of 'Call the Midwife' that gets something wrong.

Last night's opening of the new series Mothervery-Superior stated that she had 'tasked' a sister to do something. Task was only a noun in 1962...

Re: Gossip about British Television Shows, Soaps and Series

I like the UK period dramas and films, regardless in what era they play, because of the accuracy of it as well as the attention to detail. Bar few mishaps, as you point out AbFab
I do have a life too besides watching telly, the latter happens only in the evening anyway, the joys of being single...Mistress of the remote control

AbFab your avatar just reminds me to check if the DVD of Patsy and Eddie's cinematic adventure is out yet. Now this would be series they could repeat on the new-ish Drama Channel too.

And in Holby we discovered that Jac Naylor actually possesses a beating heart inside her........but actually I do hope she just plays with that smarmy guy and is lining up a typical Jac revenge for stealing her idea in the first place.

The puddle of liquid on the floor was not right either. Even allowing for meconium in there it shouldn't have been that colour. The television sprung into life too quickly too, in those days the valves needed to warm up before you got a picture.

As for the bus in the market thing I don't think it would be in very good taste whatever vehicle they used. Terrorist attacks aside the bin lorry mowing down pedestrians in Glasgow wasn't that long ago although that was an accident.

So did anyone else find the ending on Eastenders hilarious?
