Totally, programme is getting really silly.... I was half expecting her to get out her cauldron!

Did you see the second episode? Now they're dragging back an old love interest for Michelle and Sharon to argue over.....

No, not watched it yet, ooh who could that be?

I'll have to avoid this thread now until I've seen it.

Re: Gossip about British Television Shows, Soaps and Series

I am quietly dissapointed in recent events on the Square, it seems to be as if the storylines are plucked outof thin air, started and after one ep already discarded again. No proper tying ends up.

I just wonder with possibly bringing back another character from the past, if they want to reform the pop group Ian, Sharon etc once belonged to.....gives me the giggles, imagining Ian doing a Mick Jagger on the stage or Sharon a Madonna style performance

In other News,

I quite like Lee Macks sequel of NOT GOING OUT and am glad that TIM VINE is not in it anymore, if ever there was an unfunny Stand-Up comedian, he is it for me.

Re: Gossip about British Television Shows, Soaps and Series

The scriptwritters do seem to have lost their way recently. The dramas at the Vic are rather far-fetched.... and just don't go anywhere. I'm heartlily sick of the Whitney-Lee scenario (why hasn't he been arrested over the botched raid? Might give him the opportunity to re-think his life if nothing else) and wondering about way they're trying to imply there might be something brewing between Whits and Mick.
Did you see that cheese sandwich Shirley supposèdly made at lunchtime? Anywhere that does cheap and cheerful sandwiches these days uses ready-sliced!

Does Michelle seriously think she can just swan into a teaching job with no references, on the run from an under-age rape warrant, and without undergoing at the very least a security check??!

No sure about the new series of Not Going Out, although I did enjoy the old ones. Heartily agree about Tim Vine.... very unfunny bloke and even worse in stand-up.

Sandy Toksvig is certainly a nice person and adept to present many a show.....but QI without Stephen Fry at the helm. Is sort of not the same anymore.

June Brown special on Thursday on BBC1 for her 90th birthday, I will certainly watch it.

I admire her immensely. Did you know she also starred in the telly adaption of Ghormengast?

She's just recorded an episode of Desert Island Discs in which she says that turning up to film Eastenders is what's keeping her alive!

Anyone else feel like they could give Whitney a slap?

Yes. The cow eyes she constantly makes at Mick are nauseating.

Phew, I didn't like to say it but have been thinking that for weeks.
Suspect Shirley's going to crack and have a pop at her soon though!

Re: Gossip about British Television Shows, Soaps and Series

Just the one??
My oh my lady, you are in a very begnin mood aren't you ??

Admittedly, she had to go through a fat lot of very bad stuff in her short life so far, but this is NEVER a reason to behave the way she lately does!

My oh my, or shall I take that as a reason to behave bonkers now an all??

(Scriptwirters, get a grip!!)

Also the end to the allocated very bad PTSD and Depression of Lee, was harebrained! Nothing like the real thing is and would be!

I am also really glad that Mick will be written out for some time (apparently he'll go to jail)

Re: Gossip about British Television Shows, Soaps and Series

And whilst am it, axe please:

Michelle and her terrible toyboy, that plotline is a stupid one ...how on earth can she still apply for jobs....and gives former workplace as reference?? Why isn't the law after her? And overall her character now is miles from the original 'Chelle. They should've let her finish her days in FL/USA and like Angie Watts, just bring her back in the wooden box.

Furthermore, when has EE turned into Waterloo High?? I do feel for Bex, she hasn't deserved anything like that happening to her and I hope Martin will now make mincemeat of a few people, good and proper Old EE style, Kray Twin's style preferably!!

And that stupid, spoilt brat Lousie should get a kick into her puny backsie not to fly into next week, but out of the soap alltogether!! There is also a big big continuity error of the srciptwriters hidden!!

Off my soapbox now :P

Re: Gossip about British Television Shows, Soaps and Series

I don't understand why Mick thinks he's responsible for paying Lee's debts; I can see that morally he might feel that way, but as he's in deep financial doo-does himself legally he doesn't have to shoulder them, Lee's an adult.

Neither is he and/or Linda required to pay for Linda's mother's hospital care in Spain. There's a healthcare agreement between the two countries for pity's sake and Elaine would have been repatriated weeks ago.

The scriptwriters seem to have chickening out of developing several decent storylines recently; I'm still not convinced that bus crash story wasn't originally intended to be more of a disaster that it was.

The sexting photos business should have kicked off after Shakil's was shared, not left until there's one of Bex's out there, even if it is a fake. A boy being affecting by this type of thing would have been an interesting twist on the usual female victim and it's not as though no-one was aware of his picture being out there.

Dot nearly going the wrong way onto a motorway is another one. There's been several similar incidents in the UK recently, the drivers (usually elderly and confused by the signage as Dot apparently was) have caused accidents and later had the book thrown at them. So far she's simply been given a polite ticking-off and taken home by a friendly copper!
Jack then swears she's never, ever seeing her grandchild again.... and is round the next day because he's too mean to pay for a childminder! Are there's a decent source of income for Whitney, right on her doorstep.

Two very topical incidents with potential social implications... ignored.

Recently I seem to spend a lot of EE's screening time furiously muttering "that's not how it would really happen" whenever the latest 'scandal' breaks!

Re: Gossip about British Television Shows, Soaps and Series

Totally agree with you Anjela on every point you make......I am on the brink of saying ta ra to EE...really fed up with it asiot is now under the new producer.

Luckily for me, the bopping elf was an Eastender too, and so I can keep my identity on here just wil have to revert my avatar pic from my witchy alter ego back to that one

I have thought about not watching EE anymore too, but part of me wants to hang on in there just to see just how bad it can get.

Must confess that I tend to tape it these days and watch it the following day as OH insists on FaceTime'ing from darkest Denmark at the 'wrong' moment.

The programme started after we left England and I recall reading not long afterwards that it was being used in some schools as an study subject in Social Studies; I wonder how long that lasted?
Certainly would be useless for that purpose these days, Media Studies as an example of how not to portray life in working class Britain perhaps?
