Luckily for me, the bopping elf was an Eastender too, and so I can keep my identity on here just wil have to revert my avatar pic from my witchy alter ego back to that one
Rest assured that every time I see your avatar of Marc, I'll be singing 'Raw Ramp'

Wow, someone knows their Boley tunes

I fashioned myself a Motto out of two of my (many) favourited tunes of his;

Groove a little by the Light of a Magical Moon

Back to Albert Square now..
I have forgiven the producers a tiny smithereen, as the Poker session and mercilessly pulling Ian's leg, was quite entertaining!

Re: Gossip about British Television Shows, Soaps and Series

Talk about getting nightmares....I decided to give BENIDORM another look......whereas Madge, of the Garveys, was scathing and really funny and Mike with his sarky repartees not far behind.

That new family they are trying to set up instead of the Garveys is just AWFUL and this Granny Chase invokes nightmares...no night TERRORS...those teeth of her followed me into my sleep!! Bleuurgh!! Cheap cheap and bad copy of a former really funny series!

Spoiler for the EE watchers....apparently not Mick, but Shirley will go to jail.....that plot too, has lost a few sandwiches of its picnic and gets worse and worser...soon there won't be anything left to watch for me and beddibyes at 6 or 7 pm......

Re: Gossip about British Television Shows, Soaps and Series

EE is quite unhappy with her namesake soap opera...

Now they bring that Linzi / Star back...as if she hasn't done enough damage already to Jay and never retracted her steps or said that it was all a lie!!

I also think that now the truth is out in regards to Bex, the bullying/mobbing will even get worse than it was before

The 'Chelle and Preston's storyline is getting booooring beyond belief as is teh whole Carter plot now!

Only a week to go and Red Nose Day will be here and entertain us much more!
And not to forget Mammie Brown and her 'live' show, really looking forward to that.

If I could bring one such soap/serial I liked to watch since I can watch UK Telly it would be Ballykissangel......with a young Colin Farrell to boot (proper eye candy he was!!)

Oh, totally agree about BallyK.... loved that and would quite happily watch a re-run. And Northern Exposure. Just discovered The Gilmore Girls being shown right from the start on 5* so am indulging in a daily 'if only' moment every afternoon.

The Eastenders storylines are going from bad to worse. Why have none of his so-called friends helped Mick a little? Even if only help him put a tarpaulin on the roof; which even mick would have realised needed doing when the leak first started, not months later. Or lend him some money.... Jack's supposed to be this ever-so canny business man; busy local pub = investment opportunity.

Jay's stupid ex suddenly turning up like that is a bit strained too, wonder what idiocy the writers are planning now? Puzzled that Bex's parents aren't at least trying to get her transferred to another school, and why hasn't Sonia poked her nose in yet? The way Martin takes everything the teachers/police say at face value is astonishing, seems to believe everyone except his own child.

Yes, roll on Red Nose Day. Must remember to record the Love Actually reunion..... #2 son's secret favourite film!

A re-run of '2thou Acres of Sky' wouldn't go amiss either.....I fell in love with that landscape and Scotland is the last country of the UK missing on my list to visit, before I pop my clogs!

Would be nice, to catch a glimpse of the Isle via this series again...oh and for the same reason,Monarch of the Glen would also be welcomed on my telly screen again

OH, I DO have a life actually besides watching telly

EE is no longer in EE

I loved the two eps with emphasis on the Swinging Sixties and in general thought it , despite the sad event, a good written exit.

Madam Sharon could've stayed in Italy for all I care. Miss Piggy goes on my wick to the extent of me ffwd eps.

Who'd have thunk it, Jack Whitehall not only a good comedian but a serious actor as well. I read all available (in our local library) books of Evelyn Waugh and like them really very much, the first episode of Decline and Fall was quite good.... looking foward to the next instalments

I keep being distracted by the way characters in these soaps manage to get a private room whenever they're in hospital.... I think the NHS is being abused by the TV companies and questions should be asked.

EE failed yet again to stage a decent road traffic accident and bump someone off.... has anyone else noticed how dangerous that stretch of road by the Tube station is? Pretty certain there's been at least two deaths and several serious injuries there in the past.

Amazing the way Sharon just managed to turn a few hours after Ian rang her and, without any of the information needed these days to do so, simply bought Preston a plane ticket back to the states (that'll be three he's had so far); yet she's constantly whinging about not having any money, serious debts, etc.
Grrrr, must admit to recording several episodes recently and not even watching them.

The Sylvie episode was interesting though, and an accident that could easily happen (a young bloke electrocuted himself recently whilst using his iPhone in the bath when he was recharging it!), and I'm sure I'm not the only one who used to have an electric fire on to heat up a freezing cold english bathroom.

Didn't watch Decline and Fall, will be away when the last episode's shown and need to set the recorder to tape Dr Who! But will be looking forward to seeing it when it's repeated... probably during the summer.

Re: Gossip about British Television Shows, Soaps and Series

I've skipped this page of the thread as i haven't watched EE's for a while although they are recorded. During the last episode I suddenly fell into the depths of despair and asked myself "why are you watching this misery"?

I've been watching old episodes of Hetty Wainthrop on you tube. They make me laugh, I love the familiar scenes of North West towns and the richness of the accents and best of all they leave me with a smile on my face.

I understand where you are coming from and in case of (current) EE episodes, it couldn't be truer!

I DO KNOW it is 'just' a soap and the storylines spring from script writers heads. To me personally, it sometimes makes me feel better, to 'see' people that are even worse off than me and in true EastEnd spirit are not giving up either.

For me it is all about balancing it out. To balance the 'heaviness' of EE in one bowl of the scale; I have in the other bowl, stuff such as Mrs.buckin' Brown (in any appearance), Last of the Summer Wine, New Tricks, Live at the Apollo, Have I got News for you,Mock the Week, Not going out..and a few more of the kind.

I enjoyed this, too, and agree that Jack Whitehall was great for the role. Look forward to next week's episode.

Says a lot about me because I don't watch much telly.

Re: Gossip about British Television Shows, Soaps and Series

My current bout of insomnia found me in the early hours of Sunday morning watching Laurence Fox and Tom Hardy getting down and dirty on ITV3.
(Crawling through sewers and drains in Colditz in case anyones mind is taking a trip down into the gutter)!
Damian Lewis from Wolf Hall is in it too, playing his usual untrustworthy type.

Can't wait for the second half this weekend!!!

Vera yesterday, Broadchurch tonight, and Doctor Who in less than a fortnight. Finally some stuff worth watching.

Will still catch EE if it doesn't clash with OH insisting on ringing me at nine, but have noticed that recently I've spend a silly amount of time heckling the tv.

ROFLMAO, my happy yelp exactly, when the new Masterchef series started, but that was a very obviousreason for happiness of yours truly, for those who know me personally.

I only wish I'd be as good as the new set of contestants in arranging warm food on a plate, as many of them are.
Cold plates, starters and desserts I am ok with, but I have serious issues with serving appealing, and not appaling, looking plates of warm food to my guests....grrrrrrrrrrr!

However many seasons of MC, Come Dine with me, Great British Menu et al I watch I do get loads of inspiration for dishes to cook, but am never able to copy the arrangement on the plates.

There goes the dream and down the drains, of opening my own restaurant

Easily solved problem..... cook and prepare the plates you feel you are good at and employ someone else as kitchen staff who can plate up the warm ones!

Have had no EE since before easter. I need to know if teenage girl killed herself over the bullying. Or any other interesting interactions l may have missed. Can someone break it down for me please.

Didn't get to see any of it myself over Easter (for some reason the danes are totally obsessed with repeats of Midsomer Murders and the Big Bang Theory but the joy that is Eastenders has missed them completely)....
Tried finding out what happened by googling but my old source (Digital Spy) has changed the layout and is pretty useless.

Anyway; Becks is still with us, her mum's about to turn up and give everyone a good talking to apparently.
Shirley's back after managing to avoiding her mother's funeral by getting herself a few extra days in the nick. The ceiling of the kitchen has finally collapsed due to the ongoing saga of the leaky roof that no-one has the nous to fix.... apparently londoners have never heard of tarpaulins.
Linda and Mick are still away (I think the latest excuse for their absence is that the daughter's had a bad accident somewhere; I'm not totally sure how bad/where).
Donna's moved in with Ben and Jay, Lady Di apparently needs an operation but the Carters can't afford it so Shirley's thinking of having her out down (someone needs to tell them about the Blue Cross), Dennis is loved up with Kush and his mum's not happy about it.
Derek has started working in the Minute Mart and is useless.
Lauren's playing away from home.....

That'll do for now. All will become clear with time I expect.

Thank you for your lengthy reply. It seems we stipped watching at the same time. It's the next weeks plot l need catching up on.
I thought it was Me-chelle that moved in with the boys. Notice how she is Mi-chelle now? Only Dot has called her Me-chelle like back in the 80's.
So what happened after Easter?
